As you may be aware, last month Redbox changed the way they are distributing their monthly first monday promo codes. Now they are only sent via text message to those signed up for their SMS network, and the codes are all unique so they cannot be shared.

If that wasn’t bad enough, things got worse today…

It looks like some glitch in the Redbox system has prevented codes from being sent to most subscribers, and those who are receiving text messages, are getting no codes at all, but just a nice blank message.

Personally, I don’t see the purpose of making one-time use codes that are only good for a single day, but I am sure Redbox is testing and if this doesn’t work out (like today), perhaps they will return to a more simple system.

    I got mine, but it wasn’t until about ten-o-clock at night and wasn’t about to go out and get a movie at that point. What a pain.

    I rec-ivied the text code and it did not work in ether box a or box b at Wal-Mart on 32nd st in Yuma AZ . This the fourth code tex ed to me that did not work there. I get the same reply ” Code invalid”

    I got my code late, like some others here. It finally came last night at around 8:30 pm. Too late for me! I would have used it if it had came earlier in the day. Bummer!

    I did get my code, but didn’t receive it until 5:50 pm. Luckily, I was out running errands and was able to stop by a 7-11 to pick up a movie (District 9), otherwise I probably wouldn’t have gone back out in the cold to get it.

    They should really send out that code first thing in the morning so that people will think about picking one up on their way home from work.

    I got my code at 10:00 AM not one but TWO and used them both enjoyed both movies. I liked getting the codes each week. We called Monday our night at the movies. We didn’t always use them but at least we had the choice.

    We visit a different DVD rental box and every 10th one we get free for that day only. It sure works better than anything Red Box has come up with so far. Whether I get a free DVD with Red Box or not doesn’t bother me as I don’t feel one dollar is to much to pay for a DVD.

    I got my code about 20 minutes after I paid to rent one and it was also in the evening after I was already home. If they really wanted people to use the code they would have waited and sent it out the next day or next Monday or extended the rental deadline. Along with them putting out old movies as new releases, I believe I am done with them

    I finally received my code about 3 months after signing up to get the free code, but it was at 10:30 p.m. on Monday. So much for the free code. Maybe it will arrive earlier next month. So close, but yet so far!! LOL!!

    Both my daughter and I received our codes and they worked fine. My only complaint is that they never come before 6:30 at night after I am home from work for the evening and in these freezing cold temps here in Chicago who wants to go back out once your home all ready.

    I did not receive my code either. No text at all. I got charged the last two times I used a free code!! I called Redbox and they would not do anything. They said the code was already used. My point was that if the code was invalid, the machine should have informed me. It did not. It accepted the free code and then charged me!

    Received mine at – honestly – 11:59 last night… for a midnight expiration. right after we finished watching Paranormal Activity… that I paid for two hours before.

    Got my code and used it too NO PROBLEMO!
    I have found RedBox VERY easy to deal with in that, if you are signed up to get a free code and you DID NOT receive it or it didn’t work for you, just email them and tell them and they will get you another one and apologize.

    For those who aren’t getting the txt…check with your cell provider to make sure you don’t have ‘special TXT blocked. That was my problem last month. This month I got mine early afternoon and it worked fine. I think Redbox should send them out late Sunday night so everyone will have them for Monday.

    I recieved my code,but went to 3 redboxes and it told me the code was already used. Getting a free code is great but not when your out in freezing temp; of 3 degrees trying to get a movie to stay home and watch.     My husband received his at 10:00 at night- so a lot of good that does when most people with jobs are trying to sleep at that hour. Who’s going to get out to rent a movie at that time of night? My text, however, never showed up. Redbox needs to rethink their methods just a bit.

    Don’t have a cel. Don’t want a cel. So I no longer receive
    codes from Redbox.
    Inside Redbox codes work occasionally. Usually I get a
    message stating that the code has already been used.
    Unbelievable since I have more than 30 credit cards. I get the
    same message iusing a much used card as well and when
    I use a card that has never “met” a Redbox.

    For those of us w/o a cell phone, the codes on the site don’t work. I always get “code invalid” or “code already used” even when it’s the first time I’m trying it. Going to Blockbuster b/c they have a Jan. coupon for all movies, even Blu-ray, for $1.99. Plus you can keep them for several days too. Redbox, please don’t forget those of us w/o cell phones at the present time!
