I wanted to get this one out quick so no one missed out on this offer over the weekend…

Similar to the Groupon deal with Redbox a few months ago, Blockbuster Express has now gotten in on the action. I guess they really are still trying to compete with Redbox.

Their deal is slightly different (and even a little better). This time you get 5 rentals for , which is basically 3 free rentals.

I have never used a Blockbuster Express kiosk before, but I picked up this deal and will give it a try – nothing wrong with a little competition, right? :) There just happens to be one of their kiosks in the Vons right by my house, so it is really convenient.

Anyway, to pick this up, just head on over to Groupon and grab yours before they are gone. Then, let us know in the comments if you got yours, and what you think about Blockbuster Express kiosks.

(Note: You will likely land on the Atlanta Groupon page. For some reason this tends to happen with their national offers, but be assured that this deal is good at ANY Blockbuster Express kiosk. Enjoy!)

The cool things about this deal is that you can buy as many as you want. The redbox groupon would only let you buy one.

I use both Redbox and Blockbuster Express kiosk. There are a lot more Redbox kiosks in Denver, but almost every Safeway has a Blockbuster Express kiosk. I love that they let you reserve with a coupon which Redbox does not. Take a hint Redbox, this is a great time saver and great selling point. You will find the kiosk are a little slow, but no biggie. Customer service is top notch if you have a problem with anything.

Very few blockbuster kiosks in the Minneapolis, MN area. I checked their selection. Only a couple I didn’t see at Redbox. I think I’ll pass.

The online rental with codes seems a good idea.

I’ve actually seen BLUE Redboxes here in suburban Chicago. They’re all at Walmarts (but not all Walmart Redboxes are blue…), so I figure that Redbox is bowing to corporate pressure or something. Regardless, it really threw me for a loop when I saw the first one.

Actually I think that’s an expired deal. The new Redboxes are all red, including Wal-Mart. I could be wrong however. We have a new Walmart with a red Redbox.

This reminds me of a line from Taxi “all blueberries are blue berries but not all blue berries are blueberries.”

Guess I will stick with Redbox. Can’t use a deal when there are no Blockbuster Express Kiosk’s around my area. Mississippi is true to Redbox. LOL

I use BBV Express when Redbox is out of the movie we want to see. They let you use the codes when reserving online, that is great! The only thing we do not like is when a new movie comes out BBVE calls it a hot item and now charges $2.99 for the first 10 days the movie is out.

Too bad there is no blockbuster kiosk anywhere near me.

There is no Blockbuster in my city. We used to have one store that closed a couple of years ago. The only kiosk we have are Red Box and only one other DVD rental place called Family Video that gives you one free rental for every new rental Tuesday through Thursday, as well as specials at various times of the year.
They even have 50 cent rentals and free rentals on kid movies, etc. They will also clean the DVDs before you rent them!

I just check the location of any blockbuster in my city…only one available. So I looked at the inventory and it was the same as redbox. So why would I switch? Sometimes loyalty is worth more than a $$buck$$.

Aside from the valid complaints so far, another big one is the way B-buster packages their discs. The design of their plastic container has a tendency to scratch the discs as you pull them out and put them back in. Not cool. Their customer service is nowhere near that of Redbox either. Redbox rules!

I will try Blockbuster, its only a $2 risk. My loyalty is not with DVD rentals.

Can anyone clarify whether or not you have to rent all 5 movies at once, or can you rent 1 different movie 5 different days before expiration?

nicole, I copied this from a Groupon comments page.

“Lee J. commented 2 hours and 38 minutes ago Good morning!
Thanks for your interest in today’s Groupon offer for Blockbuster Express!
Please be sure to read the conditions for today’s deal: (http://my.groupon.com/pages/blockbuster-express-terms) of today’s deal)

Im confused; why is inside ‘REDBOX’ advertising for Blockbuster? Blockbuster kiosks seem subpar. I have always been satisfied with redbox and their customer service when needed. I called blockbuster 1 x when I tried them out and vowed never to go back.

I’ve got Redboxes, and Blockbuster kiosks all around me. Blockbuster makes you return the DVD’s back to the same box you rented from, not like Redbox’s return anywhere policy. But the coupon to reserve online thing at Blockbuster is really cool. I’m getting 90% of my movies from the county library for free, and you get to keep them for a week, and renew them up to 5 times, that’s 6 weeks if need be. You can have up 10 dvd’s at a time. You can put movies on you request list, and when that movie becomes available, an automated caller calls your cell phone, and says to come pick up your item. Plus people donate DVD’s, and they sell them there for $2, and they’re like brand new. Gotta think outside the boxes sometimes.

It would seem maybe for 2 reasons..One, being that if you check out the compitition you might realize how good Redbox really is(Grass is always Greener etc). Second, that also shows that “inside redbox” is big enough(by that I mean they recognize and good deal) and want to share. (remember I posted that when I saw this I to checked out Blockbuster Express and realized that it wasn’t as good as Redbox)..Course, everbody has their opinion.

Nothing like advertising for blockbuster on inside REDBOX. Of course, nothing new there, there is always a netflix ad at the top of the page too.

This deal is not better than Redbox’s groupon deal. If you bought $2 worth of the redbox deal, you would have gotten 6 movies. Just saying…

We just got a blockbuster kiosk so I will try it out. Redbox needs to keep up on the maintenance of their kiosks or they are going to lose business. I bought 2 of the redbox groupon last time and this website is not affiliated with Redbox. It says so all over the website. I just wish that I could reserve a movie online with a promo code with redbox. That would give them more business.

am visiting in AZ, use both Redbox and BBE. more titles that i like at Redbox. BBE has a couple new ones, but cost $2.99 for the Hot List titles-too much. and codes wont work on them. i’m getting the 5 rentals anyhow, as theres a long expiration date, and i’ll find something during that time.

Thanks but no thanks. We have plenty of BBE kiosks around but more RedBox. I’ve rented from both but 2 out of 3 BBE rentals are damaged discs. They’ll give you a code so you can rent again but it really sucks to be 1/2 way through a movie at 10pm and you can’t watch the end. You can’t even remt it at another kiosk because they’re all inside Publix which closes at 10pm. On more than 1 occasion, we’ve gone to a RedBox and rented the movie there so we could watch the end and not wait.

It’s just too frustrating and inconvenient.

I’m n da red. Da blue is cool for now , no other deals going on. D hot list is a joke because redbox have da same movies out some x and they don’t charge $2.99. I guess bbx wont b around long. D rental on line wit a code is good. Red don’t have dat yet. They need to pick up on that and dat would be all dat. Hope I can get at least 5 groupons.

Got a blue Blockbuster at my closest grocery store (Vons). Coupons can be used for online rentals (take that Redbox!). Bought two sets of codes, you get five codes per offer. It says only one offer per person, but I imagine they police that like Redbox, just use a different credit card at the machine.

I’m confused about the terms of the Blockbuster Groupon (which I just purchased).

If you read the Universal Fine Print, it states “Must use in one visit”. If you click on the “terms of use”, it brings you to the Blockbuster Terms of Use. It says there: “A maximum of 4 items may be rented at a time.”

Obviously if you can only rent 4 items at a time, and you’re getting 5 DVDs with the Groupon, it’s impossible to meet all of the constraints.

    HELLOOO!!

I bought the Groupon with the expectation that I could have 5 separate rentals. Is this not true?

What ‘s the catch? I do not trust this. it gives you a coupon, but then they reroute you to a different website..I change my mind. i do not trust to give my bank information to an unknown site.Be Aware!!

What will happen to the kiosks when BB goes down? Will they rename them? Hold on to the name anyway?

I suspect when BB goes away the kiosks won’t be far behind.

None of the ones in my area, or state as far as I can tell, have Blu Ray. Since the local Redboxes do then I don’t see a need for them. I was going to rent something just to give them a chance.

•Enter a promo code when prompted during checkout when renting at a BLOCKBUSTER Express kiosk or making a reservation online. Don’t forget to pickup your DVD from the BLOCKBUSTER Express kiosk.
•Promo codes can only be used on the rental of DVDs. Promo codes can not be applied to the rental of Blu-ray™ or Hot List titles. Most BLOCKBUSTER Express kiosks have over 250 DVD titles to choose from.
•Only one promo code can be used per transaction. If you rent multiple items in one shopping cart you will receive the first night free on only one DVD rental item in your cart. If your shopping cart contains Blu-ray™ and Hot List title you will not be able to use a promo code on those items.
•Promo codes can be shared with your friends but, please remember that each promo code can be used only once. So, if you give it to a friend you can’t also use it.
•In order to use all five promo codes you must rent (and check-out) five separate times

    BBE is desperate.

Also, I think some people will end up renting 5 movies at the same time (I assume you don’t have to, they probably give you 5 codes) and those people won’t have time to watch all of them, which results in people having to pay up to $5.

Not to mention that 3 out of the 5 will probably be scratched and therefore won’t play right, if at all! Whoever designed their cd cases was a real genius!
