With things looking grimmer and grimmer for Blockbuster, entities to whom it owes money are attempting to get what they can while they can. A group of landlords who collectively own the leases of nearly 40 BB locations are threatening eviction if Blockbuster doesn’t pay its back rent.
The group of landlords, in a recent filing with a New York bankruptcy court, are claiming that Blockbuster owes them $339,000 for rent for the month of February, as well as other fees.
Summit Home Entertainment has also gone after BB for more than $9 million for rental discs it has provided Blockbuster with.
Will these organizations ever see their money, or is it a lost cause to try to get any funds from Blockbuster at this point?
