EARLY GIFTS A-PLENTY
FROM REDBOX THIS YEAR
(At Least You’ll Get One Gift You’ll Like This Year)

You’re going shopping? Today? Do you have any idea how crowded the stores will be? Grab some DVDs and wait it out my friend. Redbox has an early gift for you…next week’s new releases are out this week! Just in time to help avoid the holiday traffic jam.

Speaking of serious traffic, there’s only one way to kick off this most sacred of weeks: Rush Hour 3. The hilariously mismatched duo of Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan return in the third installment of the popular series, and this time head to Paris to protect a woman who knows the secrets of the Triad’s leaders. From there it’s pretty much nothing but wisecracks and roundhouses. Hiroyuki Sanado co-stars.

Or maybe you want the intensity turned up and the comedy turned down. The Kingdom doth deliver. (Doth it ever!) In this intense action flick, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner are members of an elite government team sent to investigate in the Middle East after an American family is bombed. The fight scenes are heart-stopping and the cast is star-studded. Chris Cooper, Jason Bateman and Jeremy Piven all co-star.

Sometimes love lasts forever. Sometimes — as in Eddie Cantrow’s case in the comedy The Heartbreak Kid — it falls to pieces after 72 hours or so. Ben Stiller plays Cantrow, who thinks he’s found the perfect woman (Malin Akerman), marries her quickly, then discovers just how wonderful she ain’t. Luckily he meets his real dreamgirl (Michelle Monaghan) on his honeymoon. You’ll want to jump on your couch and chant “annul-MENT! annul-MENT!” Don’t be too loud.

Next up, director David Cronenberg delivers a tale about — cue the holiday choir — a merciless killer who works for a London organized crime family! In Eastearn Promises, Viggo Mortenson plays the assassin who’s conducting business as usual (killing, that is) until he crosses paths with a midwife (Naomi Watts) who makes him reconsider his whole way of doing things (and kill a few people while he’s at it)

After all that, you’re going to be in dire need of American Pie Presents: Beta House. This is the story of three young college studs who look to ramp up the studliness even further by pledging the Beta fraternity. Dwight Stiffler (yes, of THOSE Stifflers) is the fraternity president. Redbox knows you really needed a plot outline for this one. Jake Siegel, Steve Talley and John White star.

And finally, returning from last week, it’s Underdog! Jason Lee voices a lovable canine that happens to be at the wrong science lab during the wrong explosion, and ends up with superpowers. Peter Dinklage and Patrick Warburton co-star.

What else, movie fans? Well, you can still select your flicks at redbox.com, then pick them up at your nearest redbox location. The only thing easier is actually watching those DVDs. See you next week.

It is time for Round 3 of the Christmas Countdown…

The Round 2 winners are:

Grand Prize: aroundtree

Secret Bonus Prizes: dkonarska, prestonbarrett, prezcat, ryanharris and potbelly

Congratulations to all of our winners. You will be contacted shortly via email.

Is it YOUR turn to win in Round 3? Read on…

Round 3 will be similar to Round 2, in that we will have 5 SECRET BONUS PRIZES, for a total of six prizes. BUT… there is something very special about Round 3, but you have to enter to find out what it is… (hint: After you enter the Secret Codeword, be sure to read the special message at the bottom of the page…)

Grand Prize: $200 Visa Gift Card or Nintendo Wii (your choice)

Due to some past confusion, we want to clarify again: All you need to do to participate in the giveaway is enter the secret codeword on the contest page. You do not have to participate in any offers, give out your email address, etc., to win. It really will only take you 30 secs. (You can however participate in our sponsor’s offer and get a free laptop.)

The rules are very simple. You may only enter each round of the contest once, and you will have only 2 chances to enter the “secret codeword” correctly.

You must be registered and logged in to participate. If you are not registered, fill in your name and email in the red “Insider Updates” box to the right and follow the instructions. Otherwise, make sure you are logged in and follow the link below…

News from Redbox – New Releases for December 18

ONE LAST WEEK TO SHOP. SIX
NEW DVDS COAXING YOU NOT TO.
Happy Holidays.

Redbox New DVD Releases - Dec 18, 2007

Who could shop with sweet new releases like these?

Nearing twenty years since its debut, the world’s favorite animated family — Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie — comes to the big screen in The Simpsons Movie. And the critics agree it was worth the wait. In true Simpsons fashion, everything goes wrong when Homer pollutes Springfield’s water supply and the EPA puts a dome over the town. Or should redbox say…a d’ohme? A do-diddley-ome? You get the idea, now get the movie.

Next up, a storyline that combines redbox’ three favorite things: laboratory accidents, talking dogs and superpowers. Rent Underdog, and see what happens when a nice doggy named Shoeshine (voiced by Jason Lee) is the victim of something of a lab mishap, which gives him special powers. This one’s perfect for adults, for kids, for…anyone with a soft spot for canines, really. Peter Dinklage and Patrick Warburton co-star.

The crime-fighting dog not crazy enough for you? Then grab Stardust. This movie takes you to a town nestled on the border of a magical land…and along for the adventure when a young man makes a promise to enter said magical land and retrieve a fallen star. Charlie Cox, Sir Ian McKellan and Bimbo Hart star.

Ah, ping pong — the perfect backdrop for a tale of redemption and revenge. In the whacked-out comedy Balls of Fury, Dan Fogler plays a ping pong has-been who’s asked to take a secret mission. He uses his paddle skills to infiltrate the world of the evil — and just plain creepy — Feng (played by Christopher Walken), who also killed his father. Lots of heavy themes for a comedy with such a low-brow title.

Did you always think West Side Story would have been better set at a cheerleading camp? Then Bring It On: In It to Win It is for you. Carson (Ashley Benson) leads the So-Cal cheerleading team and Brooke (Cassie Scerbo) leads the sassy New York squad. As the two sides fight for the coveted spirit stick, Brooke finds a little trans-squad romance with Penn (Michael Copon).

Finally, to end on a festive holiday note, there’s the gory horror flick Hatchet. If redbox might expand on the great deal of clues dropped by the title, this is the story of a Louisiana ghost tour that gets stuck, leaving a few unlucky tourists stranded at night in a haunted swamp (and, naturally, fighting to survive). Joel Moore, Tamara Feldman and Deon Richmond star.

That’s it redbox fans. Happy holidays, and don’t forget to make your selections at redbox.com, then pick them up at your nearest redbox location.

News from Redbox – New Releases for December 11

THE MALL LOT IS CRAMMED. BUT
YOUR COUCH LOOKS WIDE OPEN.
So Park It.

Take a break from the shopping and enjoy some new DVDs….all from redbox.

Carols and eggnog are fine, but can anything fill you with holiday spirit quite like a rogue CIA agent? Jason Bourne thinks not. In The Bourne Ultimatum — the supposed last chapter of the thrilling franchise — Matt Damon returns to finally learn the secrets to his real identity and who trained him to be a merciless killer. (Happy Holidays!) David Strathairn and Joan Allen co-star.

Speaking of insanely popular franchises, have you heard of this Harry Potter kid-wizard? He, too, is back this holiday in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Harry and Dumbledore tried to warn everyone that Lord Voldemort would return, which only made them targets of the wizard authorities. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are all back in this fourth Potter installment.

It might be blustery out there, but a certain group of high schoolers are still on summer vacation. Join the whole (insanely popular) gang in High School Musical 2 as they all get ready to participate in a talent show at a local country club that gets organized over the summer. Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale star.

Don’t forget the timber-shivering craziness from last week’s huge release, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom are all back as seafaring plunderers who might or might not be about to sail off the end of the world.

Also, have a good laugh at Jonah Hill and Michael Cera in Superbad. The two close high school friends are about to head off to college, and all they want is to have one last good time. Seth Rogen wrote this irreverent flick. You’ll love it.

Last, enjoy a little getaway with your favorite English disaster-waiting-to-happen — Rowan Atkinson returns in Mr. Bean’s Holiday. Watch and laugh as he travels to France, where he rides bikes, finds love, falls down, and so on. Steve Pemberton and Lily Atkinson are alongside him.

The only place you need to shop: redbox.com. That’s where you’ll find your favorite releases, then pick them up at your nearest redbox location.

It is time for Round 2 of the Christmas Countdown…

The winner for Round 1 was: 235Agent – Congratulations! You will be receiving info on how to claim your prize via email.

For round 2, in addition to the regular prize, we are adding 5 SECRET BONUS PRIZES, for a total of six prizes. (This increases your chance of winning a prize by 500%!)

Grand Prize: $200 Visa Gift Card or Nintendo Wii (your choice)

Due to some confusion during round one, we wanted to clarify something: All you need to do to participate in the giveaway is enter the secret codeword on the contest page.  You do not have to participate in any offers, give out your email address, etc., to win.  It really will only take you 30 secs.

If you have no clue what this is all about, click here and read some of the posts to get filled in on all the details..

Just a quick update for you as we are preparing to start Round 2…

First off, Round 1 has ended and the winner has been chosen.  We will be notifying the winner later today…

Also, there was quite a bit of confusion about what is required to enter the giveaway…  I wanted to clear that up.

You are NOT required to: share your email address, participate in any offers, wear your shoes on the wrong feet, etc., to participate in the Christmas Countdown Giveaway. (If you have your shoes on wrong – don’t worry – we won’t tell!)

All that you need to do is: Find the secret codeword and enter it on the page.  Really, thats it!

Also, for Round 2 we are going to try something a little different: we will give away more than just one prize this round (most likely 6), so your chances to win will increase by 500%.

So, keep an eye on your email for instructions for Round 2, and get ready to have a better Christmas this year!

Note: If you are not registered here at Inside Redbox yet, make sure you do so right away so you can get the email.  You can register by entering your name and email address in the form on the right (it says “Redbox Insider Updates”).

Good luck!

Hey fellow Redboxers (no, I am not talking about underwear!)…

I just wanted to report on today’s special Redbox code that will get you a free rental (did I mention it was today – Monday Dec 10 – only!?)…

Anyway, the code is: 54TRX3

This code should work at any Redbox in the country… If you have trouble using it, it is probably because the Redbox you tried was experiencing difficulties connecting to the network.

Need more codes? Check out the code page here: Redbox Codes

So, give it a try, and get yourself a free movie today – and get ready for tomorrow’s new releases.

AND…

Round 1 of the Christmas Countdown Giveaway has ended. The winner will be posted shortly and Round 2 will begin.

Stay tuned!

BOUGHT A FRUITCAKE
FOR THE MAILMAN?
Rent A Little Something For Yourself.

Fruitcakes? Again? Well, redbox isn’t one to judge. You still get hot new releases, week after week.

Not holiday shopping aggressively enough yet? Take a cue from… pirates. Your favorite swashbucklers are back in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. In this supposed finale, Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow, who gears up for one last battle with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), who’s sailing off the map (earth) with Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom in tow. Why that little…ARRRRGH!

Hey, it’s high school, every bit as raunchy and desperate as you remember it! In Superbad, Jonah Hill and Michael Cera star as a couple of geeky and glued-at-the-hip college hopefuls who deal with losing each other by trying to lose a couple other things at one final high school party. Seth Rogen (who wrote the movie) and Bill Hader are hilarious as the town’s bored law enforcement.

Returning from last week, Lindsay Lohan plays an abducted (and later supposedly insane) teenager in I Know Who Killed Me. When she wakes up in the hospital after her kidnapping, her troubles — and confusion — are just beginning. Julia Ormond and Neal McDonough co-star.

In Mr. Bean’s Holiday, Rowan Atkinson has goofy adventures all over France. These include (but aren’t limited to) separating a young boy from his father, finding love, falling down repeatedly at Cannes and, of course, mumbling a bunch. Steve Pemberton and Lily Atkinson co-star.

Next, Andy Samberg stars as an aspiring stuntman on a mission in Hot Rod. When he has to pay for his stepfather’s operation, Rod (that’s Samberg) plans to jump several school busses on his motorcycle…with the encouragement of Bill Hader and Isla Fisher. Redbox would do it too.

Finally, don’t forget about the high school comedy about every girl who wouldn’t give you the time of day. In Bratz, Logan Browning, Janel Parrish, Nathalie Ramos and Skyler Shaye are challenged by their headmaster (who just doesn’t get it) to split up, branch out, and meet some new peeps.

See you next week, movie fans. You know where to find all these hot titles (redbox.com) and where to pick them up and drop them off (your nearest redbox)

The time has finally arrived – Round 1 of the first-ever Inside Redbox Christmas Countdown is ready to begin…

You – the Inside Redbox community – have spoken. The first item we will be giving away is a $200 $250 Visa Gift Card. (As you can see, we decided to increase the prize by $50 – lets just call it a “Christmas bonus”, shall we?)

The rules are very simple. You may only enter each round of the contest once, and you will have only 2 chances to enter the “secret codeword” correctly.

You have two ways to get your gift card:

1) Find the secret codeword (should take about 30 secs or less) and enter it on the contest page. You will then be entered to win.

-or-

2) Follow the instructions on the page where you find the secret codeword. If you follow all of the instructions, you are guaranteed to receive a $250 gift card. It’s that simple.

You must be registered and logged in to participate. If you are not registered, fill in your name and email in the red “Insider Updates” box to the right and follow the instructions. Otherwise, make sure you are logged in and follow the link below…

ROUND 1 HAS ENDED – Stay tuned for Round 2If you have no clue what this is all about, you must have missed our first post explaining it. Click here to get filled in on all the details.
