OK, this update has been a bit delayed, but I have been trying to figure some things out, and I think I finally have it…
INSIDEREDBOX POINTS
Coming soon is the InsideRedbox Points System, which will allow you to earn cool stuff (ipods, xbox, wii, gift cards) and free DVD movies.
Thanks to all of you for sharing what kinds of prizes you want to see. We will do our best to incorporate the top suggestions into our system.
You will earn points by doing simple things, like participating in the hunts, writing movie reviews, adding new working Redbox codes, telling others about InsideRedbox, etc… Then, you will be able to redeem these points in the soon-to-come InsideRedbox Store.

It isn’t ready yet, so be patient. Just make sure you are signed up for the “Redbox Insider Updates” and I will let you know when everything is ready to go.
CONTRIBUTE TO INSIDEREDBOX
Another thing that will earn you points, and be a great benefit to everyone, is the ability for you to contribute stories/articles in InsideRedbox.com.
What we are looking for is any stories about Redbox and other DVD Rental kiosks, as well as general DVD rental news. We will create separate categories for all of the different types of news, so everything can stay organized.
So, if you would like to share a story with us – and earn points as well – you can send your contributions to “stories [at] insideredbox [dot] com” starting today. Make sure to include the URL to the story, and tell us what it is about.
Thanks for your help!
REDBOX CODES
Codes are coming and going more quickly these days, so you need to make sure you check here often for the working codes.
As of today, there are 5 codes that are confirmed working. You can check them out on the Codes page.

VIRTUAL TREASURE HUNT
We have extended the Virtual Treasure Hunt this week, as we are preparing the new system. So, if you haven’t sent us your entry yet, you still have time to do so.
As mentioned above, you will earn points just for participating. So, as long as you complete a few hunts, you are guaranteed you will get a prize.
This current password is: julius
NOTE: The winner of our first hunt was: gLoRy from the Houston, TX area. We need to hear back from you ASAP with the prize you want so we can get it out to you.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
This week I want to hear from you on your ideas of what actions should earn you points in the upcoming InsideRedbox store. So, things like reviewing a movie, sharing a new code, referring friends, etc…
Feel free to share anything you like, and then you can vote on everyone else’s responses by clicking the “Thumbs Up” and “Thumbs Down” icon under their comment.
Click here to answer this week’s question.
Thats it for now. So, be sure to participate in the Hunt if you haven’t yet, and take moment to answer the Question of the Week.
Until next time!

you are to be commended on your hard work with this site
As a customer don’t care for reviews, but would like the redbox to hold more copies, can never get one we really want.
I would like to see Redbox allow the use of a promo code when you use the online reservation system. I like the idea of earning points for sharing new codes, participating on the site, ie: offering up comments and suggestions, participating in activities, finding new codes or other info that might be useful and of interest to other users. I personally would not find reviews useful, since that is not something that influences me on whether or not I wish to see a particular movie. Another idea that might be fun in earning points might be to choose a current Redbox movie (or 2) monthly or biweekly and have a question-and-answer type contest pertaining to ANYTHING about that movie and distribute points based on how many right answers. Just some thoughts….
I don’t like the fact that there are still old movies in the Redbox I have access to. I think that if movies are in the Redbox more than 6 weeks, they should be taken out. They are just taking up valuable space a more recent movie could be placed in.
Also, so far none of the codes have worked for me in Redbox. It is too bad that we aren’t given a special code to use as a reward for renting so many movies. I only got one code when I signed up and first used Redbox.
How about adding a place where users can sign in and then they can earn points every time they visit the site.
something that will bring you points-behavior around redbox kiosks/suspicious,funny/
How about maybe letting people be able to just buy the movie from your machines out right instead of it slowly deducting it from out checking account.
Points each time we visit the site, refer a friend, play the treasure hunt, posting the use of a code, make a comment like this, review a movie, etc. Maybe put a limit on how many points you can earn for each one for each day, to keep everyone honest.
Not really sure if anything can be done about this, but it seems to be a continuous pet peeve. Because there is just one line, the line continues to grow and gain impatient patrons, when others at the kiosk take soooo long to browse through the kiosk
(I am talking 10-15 mins or longer), not taking into account a long line behind them. As I am waiting, I know what I want or I look ahead of time on your site. I browse through quick enough being conscientious of others also waiting. Some are just simply returning something and forced to wait for 10 others in front of them. It is more common courtesy than anything, but some of us need more help than others. Kudos to your unique renting process, but sometimes I would rather go to blockbusters, where you can drop off returns without any line, pay the higher price and get quicker service. Thank you
I must say that this site has come a long way from what it was when I first visited it. You’ve got some great ideas and I really like the direction that you are headed in. Nice work.
Redbox is the New Kid on the block. So lets find 2 good things for every 1 improvement or suggestion. To get extra bonus points if you complete your movie order at the Redbox with in 5 minutes or less you will receive triple points this will eliminate some lines. Just my suggestion. I love the Redbox concept. I like the price and code syatem.
In the future, will it be possible to use codes with the online rentals? The online rental feature is great, but it would be even better if you could use codes. Has anyone heard anything about this?
I have some promotion code from another kiosk. It is call dvdplay found in safeway supermarket. How do I go about to share this information
thx
andy
Andy,
You can find and share DVDPlay Codes at the new InsideDVDPlay website.

Thanks!
Well it has happened, A good thing has come to an end in Illinois.
Codes are only good if your a first time user.
That was the message I got at the Redbox this morning.
Anyone else get the same message?
I believe that is the case for the code “REDBOX”, but not other codes…
I am writing more on how things are changing with codes today in the update, so take a look at that.
i seen a question from someone on here somewere said did redbox promote this website or are people taking advantage of $1.oo rentals and another lady said she wondered the same well at the letter head at top of web page in small print it says redbox.com is an independent website and in no way is affilated with redbox, mcdonalds or coinstar. just so ya know:)
