Tuesday Update – April 25, 2006

Hope you had a good week. I don’t know exactly where you are located, but here in Salt Lake City we are finally starting to see some nice weather. It has been good to get outside, have a few barbeques, get some work done, and have some fun.

Even with all that, we still managed to watch a few movies this past week. Most were very good, and one not so good.

LAST WEEK

We saw “Lost”, which I thought was pretty weird. Neither my wife nor I liked it much, and could have lived without seeing it.

Then, we saw “Fun with Dick and Jane”. I actually didn’t expect much out of this movie, and didn’t want to see it too bad. But, one night it was the only movie there so we rented it. And, it was
better than I thought it was be. So, if you have some time, check it out.

Finally, the last movie we watched this week was “The Greatest Game Ever Played”. I would have to say it is a must see if you like ‘underdog’ or sports stories. Very well acted and based on a true story, it was the highlight of the week. Definitely check it out.

THIS WEEK’S NEW MOVIES

According to the Redbox site, there are 6 new movies in the box this week. They are: Shopgirl, Casanova, Aeon Flux, Match Point, Tristan and Isolde, and Dr. Dolittle 3.

Since we rarely venture to the theater (like once a year), we haven’t seen any of these movies. I plan on seeing Aeon Flux, and will likely find another one or two on the list to see, and will
let you know what we think.

NEW CODES [http://www.insideredbox.com/index.php/codes]

There were quite a few new codes added this week, so definitely visit the codes page and take a look. Try a few in your area that haven’t been tried there and report back.

We would love to hear from you!

What do you think about the new weekly emails? Do you think they are too long, too short, really boring?

I like getting your comments, they help me pick out movies that I am not sure on and now that I have read your comments on “Lost” and “Dick and Jane” I gotta tell you, I WILL be reading all your comments and going by what you recommend. I thought “Lost was so strange, and did not care for it at all, in fact I turned it off and didn’t finish watching 3/4 way thru, I kept waiting for it to get better ! Now as far as “Fun with Dick and Jane” Oh my heck, my husband and I laughed the whole movie, it was the best one we have seen for awhile. I would recommend that one to ANY one and EVERY one of all ages. My teens loved it as well. So in other words THANKS SO much for putting out your email and ALL the time you take to share with us, Hugs, SunFlower~Angel

Rented Red Eye. Was pretty good. Tried a couple of codes that were first names and finally used 3Under3 and it worked. No one was waiting in line behind me so I didn’t feel so bad trying a few times. Keep sending the information. Thanks.

I’m up in Heber and the weather is looking mighty fine.

I enjoy your emails. I like hearing about the lesser known movies and often times a real winner shines through. I have yet to use some of the codes, I’ve been fairly busy engineering and designing home theaters for others! I did see King Kong last week and although the action was intense I didn’t care much for the movie. I did like Jack Black.

    Thanks for the service,

    Jess

I haven’t rented any movies for about a week. I saw a couple of movies that I really thought were excellently done. Narina was one of them – it’s not only a great family film, but it’s filled with rich characters and a terriffic story line that would keep anyone interested in the film.

I also rented in the same week a titled called Derailed and didn’t really like the movie, it was way too weird, actually the plot of the movie was right out of a criminals mind.

The last movie I rented was Memoirs from a Geshia, which was directed, performed, and excellently executed. When you think of the title, some people including myself had the belief that it involves a prostitution ring, that is far from the truth. The story describes from a women’s prospective the training and discipline each young women is taught as if they were a warrior going into battle. The only difference is that they are trained to be an artist through their makeup, dance, and hospitality. This movie details the poverty of a family and the separation it caused.

I love the site and like the emails. I was expecting to get the codes as part of the email… Any thoughts on that?

    Hi Mike,

1st, thanks for adding the feedback option (and for the site as a whole!)..

It would be great to see a ‘date added/discovered’ in both the global codes list as well as for individual regions.

Also, an expiry date (if known) would help us to try and ‘use’ those codes before they expire..

    Anyway, thanks again
    Steve..

Hey! I love your website!! :-) I’m also from around Salt Lake City and I too rented “The Greatest Game Ever Played” along with “Fun with Dick and Jane.” I knew that I wanted to see “greatest game…” but as far as “fun with…” I wasn’t too sure about, but there was nothing else to rent and so I rented it. It was better than I had thought it would be.

I like the e-mails and I like your reviews on the movies and the updates.

I am finally watching King Kong tonight with my free code!

    THANKS!

I think you should work on a way to add accounts to your site for reporting. You could make them optional – but I know I would love it if you could keep track of which codes I’ve already used… Although you would have to have the ability to let the user enter in a description of different cards that they have used them with (i.e. “Blue visa” – or “PayPal debit”) because they might use the codes with different cards…

It would increase self-reporting of valid codes, and would make it much much easier to remember which ones I’ve used with which cards…

A friend told me about your site. I have a new Redbox here in Cincinnati, Ohio near my house. I have used it many times using the codes. I just found out that I am still being charged. What did I do wrong?

    Ryan,

I have already considered your idea, and will be implementing something like it in May, in addition to some other advanced features that I think you and everyone will like. Stay tuned…

    Spencer,

Are you sure you are being charged? Redbox will always put a pending charge of $1+tax on your card, but it dissapears within 3-10 days depending you your card/bank rules.

I’m here in Centerville UT and your site has been mighty fine for the wife and I. We watch movies quite a bit (7-10 a week) and your site has been great in keeping costs down.

As for the emails, they are okay. Maybe add a picture of the upcoming movies at redbox for the week. These can be found on imdb.com.

Keep the codes coming, loving the site.
