Inside Redbox is the #1 "Unofficial" Redbox Online Community for Redbox Codes, News and more. Inside Redbox is not affiliated with Redbox Automated Retail, LLC.

Redbox has pulled the wraps off of its new website (update: not everyone can see it yet, so we’ve got some screenshots after the jump), and there are a bunch of new changes to make it more visually appealing and user-friendly. The new Redbox.com has an updated look and feel, with prominent placement of promotional banners and new releases. It also gives more space to Redbox’s social media as well as promotions, such as the current Groupon deal.

An interesting addition to the site is the new “Games” tab, which gets equal billing with “Movies” at the top of the page. The new games page is much more intuitive and allows users to search by console, genre, rating or release date.

Also interesting is the new Online Credits section, which seems to indicate that online codes of some variety are on their way. It will be interesting to see how Redbox develops this new option.

site doesn’t even load now! What gives?
I’m logged in, and when I try and select my favorite kiosks,
it’s taking forever to load ( the status bar in Firefox barely moves).
    FAIL!

There is a cookie from redbox, “RB_2.0”, that needs to be set to “1” in order to see this page (and the RB_1.0 cookie needs to be removed). If you know how to update your cookies, give it a shot. If this cookie is not set you will see no change to the website. (you will notice if you are seeing the new website–its TOTALLY different). Looks like redbox is throttling how many people have access to the new website.

I use firefox and went to Options – Privacy – Remove individual cookies – searched on redbox and deleted them.

Now I get the new website. A day after seeing a blue redbox in Walgreens. Will they change their name to Bluebox next?

The worst part of the new design is no more Yahoo! ratings in the DVD descriptions. :(

I third the motion – keep the Yahoo ratings

It is nice… BUT they have forgotten a couple of things!!!
1.) When searching a movie via your zip code – no longer can I tell WHICH kiosks actually have the movie available.
    and
2.) Since the movie titles are NOT available above the dvd covers (like they used to be), I have to actually mouse over one to even tell WHAT the movie is — they really need to go back and list movie titles over the dvd covers like before!!!

Other than that, yea it’s nice, but… I’d really prefer the previous web site style.

If its not broke don’t fix it

Epic fail on new design, what a load of crap
1.) very slow to download view
    2.) cannot stay logged in
    3.) etc.., etc… etc…

convinced me to finally join netflix instead, cya redtards

Old site left much to be desired.

    Great job on the re-design.
    1. On-scroll loading improves load times
    2. Alternate location-based or movie-based browsing
    3. etc… etc… etc…

Tried Netflix last month. Sucks. Their list of movies available for streaming is pathetically small. Drop ’em right away.

    @Timothy

It’s very obvious you either work/troll for netflix or are part of the new web design team.

Since you have decided to use “dis-information” as your tatic instead of taking honest feedback and using that to improve a new “beta” design I will not outline every single flaw in the new design with the hopes that someone other than a troll like yourself will read this and work on the improvement.

1.) Very, very slow to view home page. I have a 10Mbit connection and it takes over a minute or for the home page to load, slowing my pc to a crawl in the process. Why? I counted over 75 streaming ‘dynamic’ movie titles loading. I then ran netstat and counted no less than 50 simultaneous open connection to the site. Ever heard of caching?

3.) No more yahoo ratings in the DVD descriptions, one of your most usefull and important reasons I used redbox, apparently I’m not alone.

2.) Could not stay logged in no matter what I did, I restarted my browser, then my computer, even tried deleting all my cookies, nothing worked.

3.) After entering my credit card info and then getting auto logged out without the order processing I started to become worried that somehow I was on a “fake redbox site” designed to steal my login info and credit card info, why?
Not only was I not given a “choice” to try the new design, I was not even warned, and no matter what I did I could not make it go away, I read the help and all other info on redbox.com and not a single thing mentioned the ‘new’ site design.

insiderredbox.com was the only thing that confirmed to me I was not seeing a hacked website, just that I had become an unwilling test subject in a new design that caused me much grief and worry without any warning or anyway to go back to the old design.

It was the final straw for me.
Now I use Netflix for $7.99 a month I get every single movie I could get from redbox and many, many more plus I don’t even have to leave my house or worry about returning it, they are streamed to my TV instantly, thank you redbox for showing me an easier and less expensive way to see the movies I want. Redbox helped Blockbuster go bankrupt, I am very thankful for that but Redbox is changing in many ways (besides the new design) that let me know it was time to leave them too.

Good luck with low-cost Netflix streaming stay low cost for very long. They just had a report on the news that because it uses a bigger chunk/cost more for the internet to say provide the ability/power to stream movies on say Netflix, youtube, etc. than just those who want/use the internet for email, surfing etc…that the basic internet is going to have to start to tier the costs. Per the report, the tiering of internet costs is the way of the future because the internet companies have been equally dividing those costs between customers (say $19.95 a month for everyone and anyone)in order to make the internet available to each home. However, it is not fair to all consumers to equally share those costs (everyone pay $19.95)when some consumers only want/use the internet for email, while others use a bigger share because streaming movies takes so much more power, megabits or whatever of the internet, as opposed to those who just use for email.

Their old, ORIGINAL website was the best. Before the initial changes. Everything worked correctly, and was practical and organized. It’s kind of confusing now. The only change that has been worthwile is the coming soon feature. If they add online codes that will be nice too. Other than that the changes have made it harder for me to use. It’s good to see THIS site is still the same at least. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it seems to apply to redbox.com to me.

I don’t hate it, but it seems to be slower than their previous site.
