Ever wonder what the top Netflix rentals are in 90210 (Beverly Hills)? How about 10001 (NYC) or 98122 (Seattle)? The New York Times has posted Google maps of 12 of the largest metropolitan areas in the country overlaid with Netflix’s 2009 rental patterns by ZIP code.

Take a few minutes and observe the different popularity of certain films/television shows in the more urban areas versus the outlying ZIP codes. It’s also interesting to note which films (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) have appeal from coast to coast and which ones (Seven Pounds) seem to appeal more to middle America. What was the most popular Netflix flick in your area? Can we look forward to seeing a Redbox version of these maps?
