If you thought the original content on Netflix was exploding, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Netflix announced its financial results for the most recent quarter earlier this week, and while the numbers were exemplary, even more interesting was the projection for the company’s new content spend.

After spending about $6 billion on original content in 2017, Netflix says it plans to drop as much as $8 billion on its own shows and movies next year, including about 80 new films. Netflix explained the need for the increased spending thusly:

“We have a good head start, but our job is to improve Netflix as rapidly as possible … to stay ahead of the competition in the decades to come,”

Helping to offset the increased spending will be Netlfix’s upcoming price increase, which will be the first time the company has raised its prices in several years.

Is this vast investment in original content going to continue paying off for Netflix, or will it begin to run into the law of diminishing returns?

My 1st issue is the price, the most something costs, the more you question having it. 2nd is content. They aim to please all so I get a little something I like but most I don’t. I could buy a season of the shows I like for cheaper than a subscription if they offered that. Gonna see what they put out next year and hope for more good shows

Netflix is good for the old Movies & TV shows. But I see more & more they are running out of them. Not renewing the rights. And putting the money into there own stuff. And I don’t care for most of there stuff.
But then again. I only pay $7.99 a month. So I will sit tight and see how things go.
    Who knows?

For what Netflix offers, I believe it’s a good value, even at a slightly more higher cost.
