TGIF! Every week on “Freebie Friday” we offer our readers an opportunity to win free prizes. This week we’re giving away 5-packs of free Redbox rentals to three lucky winners!

The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters this weekend. It will doubtlessly make a lot of money, but many are wondering if the Spider-Man franchise needed rebooting so quickly after the previous installment. To enter this week’s contest, answer the following question in the comments section below:

Which superhero franchise do you think should be left alone for a while?

After The Dark Knight Rises comes out in a few weeks, should Batman be given a rest? What about Superman, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Iron Man, etc.? What’s your pick for the superhero franchise that has (at least temporarily) overstayed its welcome?

On Monday the 9th we will pick three winners at random from the submitted comments. Each winner will receive five free Redbox rentals! Multiple comments will disqualify you, so please respond just once.

Spiderman. Tired of do overs with different effects. What? Can’t think of new stuff? Maybe look at some old comic books for ideas dumb asses. OOPS, I forgot for a minute that no director/writers will ever see this post..lol.

With so many poor movies out there we need all the super hero movies we can to save the day. But too many restarts on the same story make even the unbelievable, unbelievable. So Batman has had the most restarts followed by superman and then spiderman. I guess that is the order I would follow

Spiderman, but really any one that doesn’t have an improved story line. Remaking something just for the special effects is worthless.

Superman seems to have a new beginning on each of his movies. Perhaps if they could pick up where one left off then the entire story wouldn’t seem so old and played out.

I love all the super-heroes movies! I think they are all great to watch, but I like the way Marvel is making their movies link together with the culminating AVENGERS movie. Maybe the DC heroes could come together in a Justice League movie!

I don’t care if they keep on making movies with the same old superheros as long as they tell us a different story. Unfortunately, most of them don’t. Spiderman does seem to be the worst offender. The film makers don’t really come up with a new tale, they just try to make the villain more outrageous than the one before. It’s boring.

Spiderman is overdone because it doesn’t change up the story much, let him move on if you’re going to make more movies about him. There is more than one Spiderman comic book out there, follow the stories, not just the beginning of his story. Yes, Batman movies have been pooped out for years, but there are added/new characters from the comics, this is what needs to be done with the others, and for the most part, it has been. Spiderman is the only “hero” movie set that plays the same story remade.

Defiantly the super hero adventures are way over done but people keep watching them and thats why they keep making them.

Spiderman. Always was my favorite superhero but the movies border on the boring. But as long as ER keep seeing them, they’ll keep making them.

Maybe do some that have not ben done yet like Silver Surfer, etc…let the rest all sit a bit except maybe a follow-on to Avengers. I can’t help wondering why Spiderman is even being done again after the first series gave us Spidey 1, 2 & 3.
Here’s a strange concept…how about coming up with a new super hero . . as well as a whole new storyline. . . what a concept (sarcasm intended).

If the stories are new and exciting I can not see why they can not keep going with a super hero. But when they keep coming up wih new beginnings. And as others have pointed out there are other heros they can use. But they will use the tried and true money makers other than take a chance. It is all about the money. Spiderman the musical on broadway is making money so let redo the movie. As I tell my children they will keep remaking them as long as they keep making money

I think Superman should be left alone for a while until a new generation of scriptwriters and filmmakers can write a good script and make a great film. Too many of them rely on special effects and not enough on the heart of the core material.

Batman, Spiderman, and Superman have been the most abused by Marvel. Different actors playing the role. Hot and cold story lines. The Sliver Surfer as mention above would be a good pick..

Superman, unless they would do a Justice League. With batman, flash, wonderwoman, and aquaman and green arrow.

First off, “The Amazing Spiderman” was absolutely brilliant. The first 3 films were mediocre @ best, with exception of Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus. They also managed to turn the character of Venom into complete trash. So Marc Webb has to redo a Spiderman vs. Venom movie just on general principle. I also like the direction & that “X-Men First Class” was going in. I liked “Ghostrider Spirit of Vengeance” so much better then the first “GhostRider” film, so I’d like to see them do a sequel, continuing GhostRider’s path. “Jumper” deserved a sequel, in my opinion.

But unless they get a new director, they shouldn’t make anymore Wolverine’s, Fantastic Fours, Judge Dredd’s, Jonah Hex’s, Spawn’s, 30 Days of Night, I am Number 4’s, Thor’s, Priest, Green Lantern’s, Witchblades, Catwoman, & Underworlds. Underworld has basically run itself off the course of it’s own story-line. I can’t remember if Resident Evil started as a comic or a video game first, but it must be stopped!!!

Wonderman looks like a bad idea. Now that Marvel “Avengers” has made Hawkeye the most badass archer since Legolas; if DC makes a Green Arrow movie, it would look like a sad imitation. Though I liked all of the Transformers films, I believed that they have run their course. But if they make another, I’ll still go see it.

Definitely Batman. Batman has been going for so long and this is one of the first remakes of Spiderman without the same actors as Peter Parker and MJ. I’ve seen Batman as far too many actors and it’s time for them to stop.
