OK, everyone, I need your help…

SUGGEST A PRIZE

I added a little survey to find out what types of prizes you wanted to see in upcoming contests, but it didn’t work right, and wouldn’t allow you to add your own suggestions…

From the comments you left, it seems the DVD rentals and gift cards (Amazon, etc…) got the most attention. Those are great, but I want to make sure I can give you what you want.

What I would like you to do is add a comment below with one (1) suggestion per comment. And, if something you would like to suggest is already there, click on “Thumbs Up”. If you see suggestions you don’t like at all, click “Thumbs Down”. If you don’t care either way, just don’t click on anything for that suggestion.

So, for example, if “Amazon Gift Card” is already there, and that is something you want to suggest, don’t add another comment for it, just click the “Thumbs Up” button. And, ff you really want “Movie Tickets”, and its not there yet, go ahead and add it.

Just remember, only one suggestion per comment, so that the voting mechanism will work as planned…

WANNA GET OUT, WHAT
WITH SPRING HAVING SPRUNG?
Grab your DVDs, Return
them to any Redbox location.

More great cities, more locations where you can pick up or return the rentals! Redbox is thrilled to welcome redbox locations at McDonald’s in Colorado Springs, San Antonio, Oklahoma City and Jacksonville, FL, to the family. Swing through. See the sites. Return some DVDs. Redbox hears it’s lovely there come springtime.

First off this week, give winter one last so-long-sucker with Happy Feet. Last year’s animated hit about some hilariously cute penguins —and the one who teaches them all to dance— will please movie lovers everywhere, young and old. Robin Williams, Elijah Wood, Hugh Jackman and more provide the voice for our little tuxedo’ed buddies.

Need a little proof that anything’s possible (beyond penguins dancing)? Rent the inspirational The Pursuit of Happyness, starring Will Smith alongside his son, Jaden Smith. In this true story, the elder Smith stars as Chris Gardner, a down-on-his-luck salesman who teaches his young son life’s biggest lesson —to never give up —while turning his own career around.

From there, hey, why not visit the bleak, bleak future? In Children of Men, people have stopped having babies, making this generation the last generation. That is, until, one woman in England somehow gets pregnant. (“Somehow.” Redbox is letting that one slide.) Clive Owen and Julianne Moore go on an intense mission to protect the woman and her baby, and to keep the human race alive.

Don’t forget about these rentals from last week. Select them online, pick them up anywhere.

Leonard DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou and Jennifer Connelly give stunning performances in the critically acclaimed Blood Diamond. It shows the African diamond trade from the points of view of both the farmers and the businessmen.

Or grab the story of a young man who happens up on a dragons’ egg, and brings it on a journey to discover his hidden powers. Ed Speleers, Jeremy Irons and Robert Carlyle star in Eragon.

Finally, don’t you dare forget about the returns of Sylvester Stallone as everyone’s favorite under(/older)dog in Rocky Balboa. In this final installment, Rocky makes a comeback to fight a heavyweight champion who’s DECADES his junior.

I have some exciting information for you in this update, so read through it carefully.

Over the past month I have been working on some changes to the site and also thinking of ways to make things more fun around here. I believe I have finally figured it out, and you are one of the first to find out about it…

REDBOX CODES

First, I want to tell you about some changes to the Codes….

I have removed the old “Markets” that were created over a year ago from the Redbox Codes page, and replaced them now with “States”. Since you can now find a Redbox in most US States, I thought this change would make more sense…

Also, Redbox has been releasing more “cryptic” codes lately, and they have been working great. So, if you see a weird looking code, don’t dismiss it as fake until you have tried it out.

Some recent new codes are:

84MAR3
HONESTABE07

Give ’em a try in your area and report back on the Redbox Codes page…

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

This week I just want to hear from you on what you think about the recent changes to the Redbox Codes page, as well as what else you might like to see there.

So, leave a comment below and let me know what you think…

$200 CASH AND BEYOND…

OK, now to the exciting stuff…

This week I am introducing the “InsideRedbox Virtual Treasure Hunt” where you can get cash and other prizes for participating. If I get enough of a response, we will likely do this every week…

So, how does it work?

You will simply visit a website and answer a few questions about information that can be found on that website. It will only take about 5 mins to complete.

A winner will be chosen from those who answer all of the questions correctly. There is nothing to buy, no offers to complete, and no friends to refer.

This week you will be able to choose from the following prizes:

Option 1: Any 12 DVD Movies of Your Choice
Option 2: 30GB Ipod Video (or 4GB Ipod Nano)
Option 3: $200 Cash

To participate, you will need to have the password from this week’s email update. If you are not subscribed to the weekly updates, you can do so now using the “Redbox Insider Updates” form to the right. The password is found in the “Redbox Update” email.

News from Redbox – More hours in the day to view hot redbox DVDs

FINALLY, AN EXTRA
HOUR OF HOT NEW DVDs
Pick ’em online, gram ’em at Redbox

This week kicks off with a movie whose name you heard plenty around, oh say, Oscar Night. (Which will happen when you’re up for 5 of them.) Blood Diamond— with critically acclaimed performances by Leonard DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou and Jennifer Connelly— goes inside the African diamond trade where farmers and businessmen fight over precious rocks. You’ll surely think twice about the bling.

Also new this week, enjoy all the flying and the fantasy of Eragon. It’s the story of a young man who, after finding a dragon’s egg, goes on a journey that leads him to discover his hidden power to protect his home from an evil king. (Brave kid. Redbox usually just leaves the dragon’s egg alone.) Ed Speleers, Jeremy Irons and Robert Carlyle star.

An icon returns! Sylvester Stallone enters the ring one last time (or so he’d have you believe) in Rocky Balboa. The Italian Stallion comes out of retirement to fight the reigning heavyweight champion, taking his son (Milo Ventimiglia) and favorite cousin (Burt Young) on one emotional ride. The Rocky movies always inspire redbox to hit the gym. Luckily, they’re only every 15 years.

Nativity Story follows the journey of Mary and Joseph from Bethlehem, leading up to the very first Christmas. Keisha Castle-Hughes and Oscar Isaac star as the holy couple. This tale of the birth of Christ is most often told around the holidays, but redbox thinks it’ll hold up year-round.

Just in time for baseball season, Everyone’s Hero rounds out this week’s new releases. It’s the animated story of a boy who travels across the country to help Babe Ruth and the New York Yankees win the World Series. Inspired by the movie’s original producer, Christopher Reeve, an unmatched cast lent their voices. William H. Macy, Rob Reiner, Raven-Symone, Richard Kind, Robert Wagner and Forest Whitaker are just a few.

Don’t forget about one of last week’s huge redbox releases: Casino Royale, starring Daniel Craig as the latest 007. Showing an edgier side than fans are used to, Bond tries to prevent a terrorist (Mads Mikkelson) from winning a high stakes poker game in Montenegro.

New releases? Previous releases? They’re all available for you to pick online and grab at your nearest redbox location.

WHO’S IN AND WHO’S
ON THE BUBBLE?
Welcome to March… Flickness

Settle down now, it’s not a competition. There’s plenty of March for you to rent all of these hot new releases online.

First, catch last year’s most talked about comedy— Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make (deep breath) Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Sacha Baron Cohen brings Borat to the big screen in a trip across the U.S. to see what the country is all about. Enjoy lots of irreverence, lots of laughs, and one scene that – —trust redbox on this one – —you won’t soon be able to shake.

Follow that up with Hellboy: Sword of Storms. This animated continuation of the popular Hellboy story takes the valiant hero all the way to Japan. When a professor gets the itch to crack open a forbidden scroll, he becomes possessed by the twin demons of Thunder and Lightning. (He didn’t see that coming? And he calls himself a professor?) Ron Perlman and Selma Blair provide the voices.

Jail? Hilarious? Sure, if Bob Odenkirk has anything to do with it. He directs Let’s Go to Prison, a comedy starring Dax Shephard, Will Arnett and Chi McBride. Shepard plays a career car thief who decides to frame the only son (Arnett) of a particularly stern judge, getting the son thrown in jail, and ruining the judge’s legacy. As usual, Shephard plays a real rocket scientist.

That’s it for this week’s new releases. But don’t forget about last week’s releases. They’re all available online.

In Stranger Than Fiction, Will Ferrell takes on a slightly less goofy role—a regular Joe who begins hearing a voice that seems to be narrating his life. Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Emma Thompson play the characters who surround Ferrell as his story unfolds.

Or join the lovely Sarah Michelle Gellar on a trip to a creepy farmhouse in The Return. Gellar plays a businesswoman who follows her chronic nightmares to the farmhouse where a murder took place 15 years earlier. Sam Shepard also stars.

Finally, pay your respects to JB and KG —the driving forces behind the self-proclaimed greatest band in the world—in Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny. Jack Black and Kyle Gass star as the two slackers who meet, form a very important band and set out across the country to rock.
