In our never-ending quest to keep you informed and up-to-date on movie and home entertainment happenings, Inside Redbox regularly takes a look at major films coming out in the near(ish) future that are already generating buzz and anticipation. This time around, we’re spotlighting The Lone Ranger.

The much-discussed, much-delayed Lone Ranger film is on its way. Johnny Depp and The Social Network’s Armie Hammer star in this Gore Verbinski directed comedy-drama. The trailer has a darker tone that contrasts with Depp’s comical appearance and light delivery. It will be interesting to see how audiences respond to this long-in-the-making film.
The Lone Ranger gallops into theaters next July. Will you be there, Insiders?

If this is the best Disney and Bruckheimer can do for a trailer, “The Lone Ranger” will be another “John Carter”. ;)

Horrible trailer that inspires me to ignore this film. I agree with the previous comments, not at all promising based on this teaser. A truly gritty Lone Ranger would be awesome to watch but I question whether this is it – especially with the Depp/Bonham Carter duo involved.
I’d like to know why hollywood takes nearly every old classic and totally ruins it by making it some idiotic comedy…if they stayed true to the genre it might be alright but they almost always make it a stupid comedy!!!! One example I can think of right off the bat is Dark Shadows…that was a scary series, not a comedy!!!
I second that, Moviecrazy…you should have lived back in the 1950’s….no matter what the news was:…Disney had it “On Ice” next month.. they must have had a big surplus of ice skaters back then… I was a devout follower of the original “Dukes of Hazzard” when it starred John Schnieder, Tom Wompat, Catherine Bach, and Denver Pyle…..John and Tom might have been “redneck” boys…but they were always clean shaven and kept their hair neat and short…Catherine Bach was a classy-looking lady, and Uncle Jesse ( Denver Pyle ) looked like a classic farmer….When I saw the newer version…Bo and Luke had been replaced by a couple of cavemen from the Geico commercials….Daisy Duke looked like “trailer trash” and when I saw the “new” Uncle Jesse ( Willie Nelson ) in pigtails….I nearly barfed… NO Damn way would he have worn pigtails in that part of the country back in those days…….a bunch of “good ole boys” would have took him out one night and shaved his head….
This looks lame.

The Lone Ranger in PIGTAILS…….HELL NO !!! Clayton Moore should rise from the grave and shoot everyone involved in the making of that turkey…!
