The once a month free code is nice, as an incentive to try the service or as a perk for those that rent movies frequently. I feel that to expect more for free is to repudiate the idea that competition is good or that companies like Redbox that fight for a spot with the big boys should make a profit. I use Redbox for new releases, but for my favorite oldies, game rentals and hard to find items, I patronize the other guys.

    Dear InsideRedbox,

Thanks for the free Redbox promo code that was provided for all customers to a rent a free movie. I would prefer to get more promo-codes each month instead of only one promo-code each month and would it possible to give out more free codes each month? Please let me know because I am just wondering.

Thanks for your time and services,
    Redbox fan and Supporter.

Hah. This comment sounds so cheesy and and spam-like.

Really, you’d rather have MORE codes than less codes?…Well who would have thunk it? DUH!!!!!!!!! Oh and by the way Insideredbox doesn’t give away the codes moron, Redbox does! Insideredbox just passes them along, so they have no control over the amount of codes we get!

Come on people…can’t we all just get along???

That’s right MovieCrazy: Insideredbox doesn’t give away Redbox codes… BUT I often thought that would be a good idea!!! Michael could buy like 30 or 60 1x codes from Redbox (like grocery stores, etc. do probably at a discount price) per month for his/this site, have daily question/answer contests, and 1 or 2 respondants who answer correctly are chosen ‘somehow’ to get a free daily code– emailed to them, …somehow… Would be an inexpensive way to increase traffic on InsideRedbox and keep things fun and interesting regarding movies and Redbox. …. Even Sunu Thomas could play along because a new voice is always refreshing and not ‘cheesy’!!!

I have been considering that for a very long time, but Redbox doesn’t offer any way for me to purchase promo codes that I know of. Perhaps I will have to look into it again, though, and see if things have changed.

          Thanks for the reminder.

      Dear Redbox,

Today I was going to use a free code but forgot what it was. It would be a LOT easier on your customers if you occasionally, say every other day, put a post-it note on the kiosks saying “FREE MOVIE TODAY” and left the keys to unlock the machine hanging there, so we could just open it up and take a movie.

If you did this, I would become your BEST customer, without even having to pay for another movie ever again, and that would be AWESOME!

Thanks for your time and services,
      Redbox fan and Supporter.

There should be a Tuesday code. Monday codes are dumb. Tuesday is the day the new stuff comes out. I can’t use the code on Tuesday so it’s useless to me.
I don’t know why people get all excited about this shyt.

    • Visitor [Join Now]
      UBM [visitor]

Actually, I space out my new tuesday releases, renting two out of a three
that get released each Tuesday, so that in case of a free code, I can then go rent that third movie on Monday.

So for instance, Last week’s must haves for me were State of Play, Impact, and
Disney: Earth. I rented SOP and Impact on Tuesday, and now I can go get Disney Earth today!

    Yay! you rock!

I’m guessing that Redbox finally figured out that offering the free promo codes increased their sales… a lot of people probably get more than one movie, and while they’re using their code people notice the release dates for moves they want to see — and end up paying to rent them from Redbox. By increasing their traffic at the kiosks with the codes they probably dramatically increased their sales.

When Redbox consistently offered the weekly free codes, people probably stretched their rentals out, knowing that they would have another free chance the following week. From a business perspective, the monthly codes make better sense — but oh how I miss the weeklies! :)

Got “Humanity’s End”, couldn’t skip to “root menu” until after you view a preview/trailer. Are the studios going to start misusing the ability to block my commands?

Just curious…When you ended the “Free” Monday Promo before I called RedBox and some Bozo girl told me that the “Free” movies being offered on Mondays were from a different company and not RedBox at all. I replied that the security of Redbox must not be working because we have been receiving “Free” movie Monday for 6 months or so and actually get the movies from the Red Box . She insisted that the offer was not from them. I said “We will all miss it” It is good to have it back, AND GET RID OF THE BOZZZO!!

Thanks for the code! Some people are so unappreciative of any little kindness. I’m not trying to get sappy here, but it amazes me that people get on here and gripe about a code for a free movie. WEIRD!

Well, that was my first thought anywayz; an honest, unshielded, uncleaned up emotional expression… then guilt fell in cause that might’ve seemed unappreciative. I do so appreciate my free code (even if I do deserve it!)

Okay, as long as you came to your senses and realized your evilness, felt shame and guilt over your ‘unappreciative’ evilness — all is forgiven. You can blog again.

    “Expires at midnight central time.”

Can I assume that that means central DST? I’m in AZ (mountain time) and we don’t use DST here, so during DST we’re running on the same time as pacific DST.

    • Member [Join Now]
      Mark [rb123456789]

It’s complete irrelevant whether where you are is on daylight savings time or not. It ends at midnight CENTRAL time. Specifically CENTRAL DST.

You are in a different time zone anyway. It ends at the same moment nationwide for all time zones, when it turns midnight at Redbox headquarters.

      • Member [Join Now]
        lakrow [jbromert]

Actually, it was relevant and I do know the code ends at the same moment nationwide. What I wasn’t sure of was when that moment was, DST or standard.

Thank you for treating me like an idiot with your answer (not all of us are used to wasting our time with DST). You could have simply answered my question with, “It’s central DST”.

The movie code for this Monday does not work at the Walgreen’s Redbox in Hurst, Texas. This has happened before, and I’m getting tired of going all the way over there, expecting to rent a free movie, only to get a message saying, “…cannot process your code at this time, sorry for the inconvenience”. Also, 2 movies I was looking for are not even there, and one was supposed to be there by July 14! That is called Flying By, with Billy Ray Cyrus. The other one is The Soloist, which has a more recent date, but should still have arrived there by now. This kiosk needs major work and updating, that’s for sure! I’m not a happy camper, on this one. I also rent from Netflix, and will be watching a movie on my computer, tonight, instead of my free movie from Redbox.

If today’s promo code does not work for you guys, you need to contact Redbox TODAY while the code is still in effect…. That is, you need to contact a Redbox Customer Rep at Redbox.com. The Redbox Rep will give you another 1x code for your inconvenience….. WARNING: you might find it even more inconvenient to wait the 10-20 minutes it takes for a Redbox Rep to respond to your call!
