Looks like I will have to go to Family Video to get “Where the Wild Things Are”. Netflix also does not have this movie yet. The 28 day waiting may not sell many more videos but will help the Brick and Mortor stores.

Picked up “The Informant!” with a promo code.

“Brothers at War” still MIA within a searchable region ;).

Disappointing, bland character study. Even though “The Informant!” received good reviews, this so-called satire or comedy’s screenplay lacked any real biting cynicism or dry wit. The narrative works a little better as a drama, but not by much.

As a side note, the DVD from redbox was marked “FOR RENTAL ONLY”. Only containing: English and Spanish subtitles/audio tracks and lacked even scene selection options, let alone any other features save a few previews.

Barely worth a promo code. A “gift” of three stars. Perhaps three and a half stars for Matt Damon fans.

Not a bad release week! Several on here I want to see! I am curious if anyone else has noticed the following. At the three Redboxes in my town here in North Carolina (EST), the new releases show up Tuesday morning at 1 AM. Since new releases come out on Tuesdays, I’m surprised that they don’t show up right at midnight on the Redboxes. However, its always 1am when I check the inventory online! Anyone else noticed that? Does Redbox just allow an extra hour to be sure the videos don’t get accidentally released before midnight?

Another thing I’m wondering. I know Redbox has a limit of 5 movies at a time. Does Redbox allow for a second account to be created in order to have more than 5 at a time? If so, would you have to associate a different credit card with it?

    Thanks!
    Drew

I think it is possibly a time zone issue you are experiencing. Since Redbox HQ is in the central time zone – and 1am EST is the same as Midnight CST – it appears that (on the east coast, at least) they just base the release off central time.

To get around the limits I use 2 different email addresses.

Ahh okay…can you use the same CC # with 2 different addresses?

E-mail addresses not required. Limit is per session. You could just go through the process twice and get up to 10. Only thing that is tied to your card is the codes.

For some reason Redbox only lets me check out 4 at the most.
I’ve tried 5 and always get a you can’t check out more then 5 rentals at a time and it only lets me rent 4 for some stupid reason.

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, 2012, and Double Identity get acceptable reviews so probably get one or more… Val Kilmer used to be in some really good/big blockbuster movies. Now he seems to be in a lot of little unknown movies. As an actor, he might become like Michael Douglas: if you get a Michael Douglas unknown movie you are still pretty much guaranteed it will be a movie worth watching because Michael Douglas seems to still choose acceptable movie scripts though he’s no longer an a-list leading man in the same category as say George Clooney.

Wrong. They are in the Redbox machines with the correct artwork. It must be something to do with the new contract.

    You’re missing some releases.
Here I’ve seen a few other movies in the boxes with release dates of March 2nd.
Movies that have already released retail wise though.

    The Time Traveler’s Wife
    The Informant

will rent the BOX…. thought they had to wait 28 days .. it came out last week

    didnt it

      RunninWild [visitor]

it did say that but I guess they are getting this sooner.

Bottom line is I dont care what the delay is….the release date for me is whatever date redbox puts it out on….is it REALLy that important? If I ever get to a point where I absolutely just HAVE to have something sooner than redbox has it then I need to re-evaluate my life…LOL

Don’t rent “the box” it is terrible. Saw with some friends a while back. I would say it isn’t even worth the dollar.

I’m confused. Why are The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Informant, and The Box in Redbox? They haven’t been out for 28 days yet. If we only have to wait a week or two then waiting will be easy! Why does The Box have a Redboxed cover on here? It has the actual cover in Redbox (all part of the WB deal).

Anyways, I will probably rent 2012 even though I’m positive it will suck (it’s a Roland Emmerich movie, how can it not suck?!). I might also rent Ponyo and maybe The Informant.

Yeah, I’m wondering how Redbox has these Warner movies yet if they supposedly signed a 28 day waiting period deal just like netflix? Netflix does not have them, so how can redbox??? Something isn’t right here.

The Warner deal starts with the movie Blind Side. Why they didn’t have these other titles when they came out who knows.

Where the wild things are will be in redbox tuesday. I saw on the screen for next week. Looks like we will only have to wait a week for new releases.

I noticed that too but The Blind Side isn’t out on dvd yet so until then, we only have to wait a week. Btw The Blind Side comes out on March 23, so until then, we only have 2 wait a week. Although I don’t think there’s any more WB dvds coming out before then, but I could be wrong.

They sent via e-mail a one time use code that is good on the 11th only, and it says it only works at one location, the last one I rented from. Very interesting.

It doesn’t say the start time is CST but the expire time is 11:59 PM CST.

So I’m assuming that the start time is CST so I should use that as a time to go out. (don’t want to wait around)

Did anyone else get one of these and do you know if it starts in CST time?

They said “It’s March Movie Mania at redbox and things are getting crazy! Use promo code (edit) for a free* one-night rental exclusively at: (and then the address)”

    Interesting…

yes i got one here in Cali for a 7-11 This code is only valid on Thursday, March 11, 2010 and expires at 11:59 PM Central

Following up, I rented my movie with the new just mailed code at a completely DIFFERENT location then the e-mail said to (not even the same type of place) it was closer so I wanted to try there first and it worked.

So you might want to try your closer location first. It’s possible that their system isn’t quite ready to restrict you to one location, maybe next time they will get it, but it’s worth the try to save gas.

I’m also really happy that they are starting to get some good movies.

Michael will probably ban this post on the film

    “The Time Travelers Wife”

    but, what the hay;

as it has been at the top of my Netflix cue now for about
3 weeks and suddenly it appears, so I am totally stoked,
and once watching, I do know why…
Do you remember a small but timely film

    “Ghost?”

Well, all I can say is this one tops it!!!
Hard to believe, because I thought that was the romantic film
to end all films. But, no, it seems a child enters this romantic
duo and becomes a trio (in Alba); one which is simply enchanting.
    You must see this film,

Was Ponyo actually released to redbox? Are there any copies in your area? Either it is the most in-demand dvd ever (way more than Twilight), or the DVD was not distributed in our area.

My kids are bummed; they’ve been waiting for *years*!
