when is “The Reader” available?
It seems like just because a movie has been released, doesn’t mean REDBOX will have it.
Two cases in point, ‘The Reader’ … released April 14, but not available on REDBOX.
This week I was looking forward to Frost / Nixon (not Available at redbox) and The Wrestler
At least I’ll get one of those !
But for what you pay and the selection available, I’m happy with REDBOX.
Frost Nixon comes out tomorrow…..i show that redbox will have it. I read that Reader was a Blockbuster exclusive
Where can you see what Redbox will get in the future? I always have to either wait until they put the new movies in the machine a few days before tuesday and look at the kiosk, or wait until Midnight on Monday to look at Redbox.com. I wish they showed future releases like Hollywoodvideo.com.
most of the time when redbox doesnt get a movie its because its a blockbuster exclusive. no video store will have it accept blockbuster.
Not true, Hollywood Video will almost always have it also. And by the way Moviecube has The Reader, and sometimes DvdPlay will carry movies Redbox doesn’t carry.
You know why Hollywood video will have it also, it is because they got to the store and buy copies of it to sell at their store. That is what they do at a store locally. They will go to Walmart and buy a bunch of copies of it and rent them at their regular price.
Yeah i know, but what i’m curious to know is why does Moviecube have some movies like The Reader (a universal release) when they are a kiosk rental service also, yet Redbox can’t get them. I know they are in a lawsuit with Universal but why is Universal treating Redbox poorly but not Moviecube? I wonder what the deal is there!
Where is Frost/Nixon? Redbox’s last e-mail indicated an April 21, 2009 availability date :(.
Frost/Nixon is a Universal Picture, so it may be a few days late.
I see Frost/Nixon right here on the list. Maybe it was updated a little bit after you posted.
I know it says that Frost/Noxon is coming out on Tues., but it wasn’t listed on the screen @ my redbox with the other coming soon movies. It was on the poster thing on the side of the machine that says some of the movies that are in redboxes.
Don’t always count on the poster being correct. In my case, Twilight was posted to be released on the 17th but didn’t actually come out for i think two weeks later. The poster on the side of the machine had it listed wrong. In my location, some of the posters are way out of date. One of the red boxes in my town didn’t get the posters updated for almost a month.
The Reader is a Blockbuster video exclusive it will not be available at redbox
Thanks for the confirmation on The Reader, must I visit blockbuster, maybe see it for ondemand on cable if its available.
people chill please. there are like 200 movies released at times and there is no way one store will have all of them- even blockbuster or hollywood video so, give red box a break, they are awesome. you go red box you are awesome with me.
Michael,
How come there is not more posting on the “Redbox Codes” site?
when i open the page to look for codes,at the bottom it says “Comments are closed.”
do i need to do something to make the comments appear?
There was a problem with that section, messages were not being ordered by date, Michael is working on putting up a new forum anyway.
how do you put in your peomo code when you rent a movie on line.when you pick it up there;s no place to put the promo code in
There is no way to enter a promo code online, you have to go there to use it at the terminal as a normal transaction. You can’t reserve a movie with a promo code, once you reserve online you have already paid $1.
I tried the new promo code and it was not accepted.
Just got off the phone with redbox, as the code that they sent me via text message did not work for me and neither did my other code they gave to me for a movie that was not playable a week ago. According the rep at redbox, there was maintenance done remotely on all machines this morning. They are having issues with the machines not accepting ANY codes! They are still working this out. He said some machines work and some don’t so they don’t know what is going on. He gave me a free code good for 45 days because my Monday code didn’t work. Just thought I would let you all know for those of you that say the code doesn’t work. It is a valid code, however there are problems with their machines.
Wasted a trip to Walmart myself as the code didn’t work for me either.
I used the code this morning and it worked. However, the first time I entered it, it did not work. The machine, then, proceeded to reboot itself. After it finished, the code worked. They control these machines remotely so they probably recognized a problem and rebooted the machine.
They use Windows as an OS.
RESTART!!
As of April 21, 2009 [5:00 AM Eastern Time Zone], no Redbox in my area has Frost/Nixon available, though the website’s search engine *has* it listed in its database.
In fairness, Frost/Nixon has been at the the top of my NetFlix queue for weeks and is now wait listed.
As of April 21,2009 (10:00 am Eastern time zone) no Redbox in my area has
any new releases available! What gives?
Did you sort by “Release Date” ? That’s the one that will show you movies that are already rented out.
I searched several zip codes of major cities on the east coast for Frost / Nixon.
Couldn’t find it available anywhere.
So it’s just not that my local redbox doesn’t have it!
Frost/Nixon will be in the machines later in the week due to it being universal.
HOWTO: Get rid of obviously bogus codes on the list.
1. Click the little “Ball” next to the code, that will enter it into the box above.
2. Scroll up to the dark red section called “ADD / UPDATE REDBOX CODE”.
3. Use the selections there and report the code as invalid.
4. Smile.
IMPORTANT: More than a few people must report the code as bad to get rid of it.

Just to check, on Monday I tried to use an “anonymous” (unregistered) Visa gift card again with no luck, since they changed the way they bill us I though it might start working again.
Just rented Frost/Nixon [4/23/09 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time] :).
Thanks RedBox!
