Once upon a time (say, five years ago) it was common for as many as four or five months to pass between the time a movie hit theaters and when it came out for rental or sale in the home market.
No more. In the latest move to shrink theatrical windows, Paramount Pictures, AMC Theatres, and Cineplex Entertainment have announced a new in-theater and digital revenue-sharing initiative.
This October, Paramount releases Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse will be available for digital home entertainment purchase less than three weeks after they cease to be shown in more than 300 theaters. Given how quickly theaters generally drop films that aren’t huge hits, this could mean that these movies will be available for purchase less than two months after their theatrical release.

Brad Grey, chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures, said the following about the plan:
“Movie-lovers want us to respond and meet their desires. Exhibitors want to keep their businesses strong. Filmmakers want us to put a premium on the theatrical experience and optimize consumer access to their creations.

Other than blockbuster movies with special effects, I would wait 2 months to see a movie. All dramas I would wait for.
No prob on my end. I can wait. 95% of the new movies are crap anyway.
I’d have to hear what it means for pricing. I also would want to know more about how the revenue sharing works
i will pass on this 100%…
So then, you go to sleep the night before the interview and
you have a dream where you walk into the interview room
naked. Twenty years passed, but ‘Ghost’ starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze is always considered to be one
of the most beloved films in the history. I want to settle
down and have kids, just like my parents.
Danofive, Will you ever say something nice? All I have ever seen from you is negative remarks.
