The age of digital connections is clearly upon us and gaining ground quickly, according to a new report from ABI Research. The report states that more than one in five American households already owns a web-connected TV.
Nickelodeon’s ratings have been dropping of late, and many are wondering if Netflix’s streaming of many of Nickelodeon’s shows is at least partially to blame. A new report would seem to back up that supposition.

There may be a few glasses clinking in Tinseltown tonight after a new report released by DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group. According to the DEG’s compilation, consumer spending on home entertainment rose for the first time in recent memory in the first quarter of 2012, inching up 2.5% to $4.45 billion.
Reuters has released a little tidbit that will be a fascinating development if it pans out. According to “two people with knowledge of the negotiations” Apple has been in talk with EPIX, a joint venture between three major studios, to stream films on several devices. Once of those devices could end up being the nearly mythical Apple television.

Boom! That’s the sound of shattered and surpassed expectations as Redbox announced its first quarter earnings today. The Coinstar-owned company helped its parent record a profit of $53.7 million on revenue of $568 .2 million.
