Netflix is taking its streaming service to the second-largest home video market in the world this year. The company announced today that it will begin operations in Japan this fall.

Besides a large offering of Japanese TV shows and movies, Netflix will also launch in Japan with original series “Marco Polo,” thriller “Sense8,” Marvel’s “Daredevil,” and Academy Award-nominated documentary Virunga.
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said the following about the upcoming launch:
“With its rich culture and celebrated creative traditions, Japan is a critical component of our plan to connect people around the world to stories they love,”
