imagesAlthough it didn’t generate much traffic at the box office, Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation, which premiered on the streaming site along with its theatrical launch, is being considered a success.

Netflix’s chief content office, Ted Sarandos, sat down with Deadline and was surprisingly forthcoming about the film’s streaming numbers. Netflix is generally very tight-lipped when it comes to revealing actual viewing statistics about its original content.

Said Sarandos:

“It is worth sharing that this movie, in North America alone, has over 3 million views already. Which I think is a bigger audience than any specialty film could ever hope for in its first two weeks of release, and maybe for its entire run. And we’re just starting. We are just thrilled with the total audience reach of this film, not just in North America but the world.

In the first week of release, Beasts Of No Nation was the most watched movie on Netflix, in every country we operate in.”

Will this film’s streaming success usher in a new era of greater transparency for Netflix? Can a move that bombed at the box office, even in its limited run, still be considered a success when it come to streaming?

Yes! . “Beasts Of No Nation” is a perfect example, based on a novel Novel by Uzodinma Iweala, was very difficult to watch.

It isn’t family entertainment and there should have been more information about the content. However, its clear message on the plight of ‘boy soldiers’ SHOULD be watched by anyone with compassion for the oppressed.
