imagesChalk up another content coup to Netflix, as the streaming giant has announced that it has signed a multiyear deal with Sony Pictures Television that will give it the rights to stream such Sony animated films as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.

Starz, which has the rights to Sony’s other feature films, declined to take on the studio’s animated films. Netflix jumped at the chance, which Janney Capital Markets analyst Tony Wible thought was a great idea, calling the deal “an incremental positive for Netflix and incremental negative for Starz,”

Wible went on to say that he feels Starz was a bit short-sighted to give Netflix access to children’s content, which could play a major factor in the streamer’s business plans. Said Wible:

“We believe the younger demographic is an important element of Netflix’s long-term strategy as they condition future generations to use the platform as they mature,”

Are you excited to know that Netflix seems to be focusing more on content for the kiddies? Will this strategy pay off in the long term?

That’s good that they got more new content but you gotta wonder about price vs value of the particular movies If Starz passed. I don’t want Netflix to end up as costly as premium channels

Like I said before DanoFiveO has no idea what he is talking about he must not be a Time Warner customer. First off Comcast and Time Warner are not competitors because their service areas barely overlap. Second this deal is good for any Time Warner customers because Time Warner sucks. I have had both I have lived in Comcast territoryand currently live in Time Warner territory and Time Warner sucks. I can’t wait to have Comcast back. So lay off your “The world is out to get me!!!” paranoia and get back on your meds.

Why would anyone be shocked that Netflix picked up kids content? That makes up 90% of their crappy streaming service anyway.
