Based on the 100-year-old tale of the Edgar Rice Burroughs character, John Carter looks to be a cross between Star Wars, Avatar and Dune. Hybrid sci-fi movies can be a hard sell to the general public (witness the recent failure of Cowboys & Aliens). Will this expensive new movie be a success?

That looks pretty cool to me. I hope the plot and acting measure up to the look of the thing….
