Inside Redbox Pro iPhone AppWe have been slaving over a new edition of our popular “Inside Redbox Pro” iPhone app for awhile now, and in a move that can only be attributed to sleep-deprivation (and just being a little crazy in the first place), we have decided to release it for FREE.

Now, we are not sure how long it will be available for for this low price (is free really a price?), but we would advise that you act quickly if you want to get your copy. As soon as we find the right medication to treat our problem, the price will be going back up! :)

Also, the more people that download it, the longer we are likely to keep it available for free. (You see, we really like recognition, so we would LOVE to see this app get to the Top 25 in the app store.) So, be sure to share this message with your iPhone and iTouch-enabled friends through email, Facebook, Twitter, or however else you want to get the word out (you can use the buttons as the bottom of this post to make it easy).

We appreciate you checking it out (and sharing it), and are always open to your feedback. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any ideas, suggestions or if you run into any (gasp!) bugs. We are here for you!

There seems to be something wrong with the app store and this app. I keep getting “Could not complete request”.

Well I got it to download but it won’t install on my iPad. I guess it for the iPhone only?

Sorry about that. It currently only works with iOS4, which leaves the iPad out for now, until Apple updates it this fall. We may consider making another version for iOS3 again if there is enough interest, but it could not be free.

      Thanks for the feedback.

Why because we were not fortunate enough to get or able to upgrade to IOS4 should we have to pay? What, punish those who don’t have the new IPHONE? were not as good of customers if we have the previous software? Wow! That seems to me to be severe oor customer service.

I hate to say it, but this isnt just about the iPad. I have 2 iPhones and an iPad. I purchased Redbox Pro in the past on my original iPhone, which will NOT run IOS4, not because I dont want it to, but because it CANT. Unfortunately when you dropped support of IOS3 I didnt know and let it download the update to the app. Now this works on my company supplied Iphone 4 (which I am not supposed to use for personal use) and doesnt work on my iPad. So you have someone who paid for your app less than a year ago and now is left in the cold because I dont wish to risk loosing my job if my boss happens to notice the App hiding in my iPhone folders.

Perhaps you could place the last OS3 version on the app store seperately (if it still works with Redbox)?

I just cant justify buying a new iPhone when my company handed me one and carrying around my iPad to go rent movies wont be feasable when IOS 4 is released for it.

I tell everyone about how great Redbox is. With the economy the way it is, being able to rent a new release movie for $1 is wonderful.

Is this app available for any Droid phones? If not, is should be.

I agree – shame it’s not backward compatible for those of us who haven’t ventured the risk on iOS4 – I mean it just came out and they’re on their 3rd rev
I’m quite cheap when it come to apps – I haven’t paid for one yet – so it would have to be – well – preferably free.
I like the site – so I might even consider paying for it if it were like a movie rental fee 0.99 or something like that

Just because we don’t have a FRUIT phone doesn’t make us 2nd class citizens.

So how about the Droid X? We use Redbox several times a week and it sure would be handy to have access from my (non-iPhone) device.

There are millions of iPhone 3G users that cannot update to iOS 4 because it cripples the phone. Do some research and know who your market is, otherwise you do yourself and us a disservice.

iOS4.1 has solved the issue you are referring to. I have an iPhone 3G that suffered this fate on 4.0, and it now works just fine with 4.1.

      • Visitor [Join Now]
        David [visitor]

While 4.1 improves upon 4.0, it does not improve upon 3.1.3’s performance. Many of the features of the new OS aren’t even enabled for the 3G, like multitasking.
I will not contribute to Apple’s proprietary tactic to sell more hardware when my phone is less then one year old.
Regardless, Redbox’s native app works fine on 3.1.3 and I will use it till your app is compatible.

I find Redbox free codes are not reliable, anyone feels the same?!! I have this experience from the past and still do after I tried it once two weeks ago after stopped renting from them since June.
