Aereo’s Legal Obstacles Mount

aereo_logoAereo has been infuriating Hollywood for a while now with its unique business model, which allows consumers to rent an antenna remotely from the company and watch and record programming.

The company has been sued again and again, and it may be finally starting to get stuck in the legal mire.

A federal judge in Utah recently ordered an injunction on Aereo in several states, a major setback for a company.

Now, a 10th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the Utah judge’s decision by denying Aereo’s emergency motion to stay the injunction.

Aereo said the following in a statement about the decision:

“We are disappointed in the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals decision denying our request to stay the injunction in the 10th Circuit. We believe that Aereo’s individual, cloud-based antenna and DVR technology falls squarely within  the law and we look forward to presenting our case to the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Aereo has lasted much longer than many predicted against the might of the Hollywood legal machine, but is the company’s luck finally starting to run out?

Good luck, Aereo! This is truly a David versus Goliath battle. I sure hope David wins. All they are trying to do is give the customer what they want, and not force them to pay for what they don’t want.
