Sure Penelope will get all the attention
and there is no demeaning here,
as she is a great actress.
But, it is Judit (Blanca Portillo's) performance
that really put this film
where it is at, I believe.
It was her next to last scene (The Confession)
that really held me spellbound.
And anyone who saw her with Cruz
in "Volver" (another must-see film) will know what I mean!
She definitely deserves the limelight, thouogh in this one!
Bravo!
Oh yes, and I always love seeing Penelope Cruz'
breasts; what a gorgeous body!!
Complex, Spanish noir with a well crafted narrative told in flashback fashion. Though the dialogue requires subtitle reading, viewers will be rewarded with a well woven, believable melodrama with fully developed characters. Well cast and acted. Highly stylised cinematography.
Five stars if you are fluent in Spanish, four stars if not. If you don't like reading subtitles, watch something else!
