Amazon clearly has Netflix in its sights, and is doing everything possible to catch up to the king of streamers with its Prime service. The latest additions to Amazon’s stable of streaming content are several Warner TV series.

Among the Warner shows licensed to Amazon under the new agreement are The West Wing, Fringe, Alcatraz, Dark Blue, and The Whole Truth.

Ken Werner, president of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, said the following about the new agreement:

“We are thrilled to count Amazon as a digital distribution outlet for our television group . . . As more and more television content is enjoyed by fans across a myriad of subscription channels and platforms and on numerous devices from televisions to tablets, deals such as this give consumers the opportunity to discover, catch-up, or simply enjoy a favorite series again and again.

Brad Beale, director of digital video content acquisition for Amazon, was similarly effusive:

“Since launching Prime Instant Video, we’ve continued to expand both the quantity and quality of video content for our Prime members . . . Bringing ‘Fringe’ and ‘The West Wing’ — two shows with a devoted fan base — to Prime Instant Video first, is another way for us to add value for Prime members and to continue to give customers content they love.

If you use a streaming video service, is it still primarily Netflix, or has Amazon been getting more of your attention lately?

I am still with NetFlix. And they have over 2000 TV Shows and Movies with CC on them. Closed Caption. Amazon does not even come close. And for $.8.00 bucks a month. You can’t beat it! I have Netflix online. And Block Buster two out at a time.I got all the movies and TV shows I need. For under $30.00 a month. And I kissed the Cable people good by!
    And doing great!

I still prefer Netflix over Prime because you have to buy Prime for a full year at a time.

I’ve just started using Amazon Prime along with Netflix lately and find it cumbersome to use. There is no instant que or favorites. You have to search for a show every time you watch an episode. Also, as a parent of young children, the inappropriate content is right there in your face every time you search or look through a genre. I’m talking porn, not just R-rated content. They really need to make it more user friendly and get some parental controls before I’d consider dumping Netflix.
