Inside Redbox is the #1 "Unofficial" Redbox Online Community for Redbox Codes, News and more. Inside Redbox is not affiliated with Redbox Automated Retail, LLC.

Lately you may have noticed a slow down of my news updates, even though there is news to report. This is because I have been so busy on some other projects, that I have been unable to post as often as I would like.

So, to remedy that problem, I am looking to hire a couple of people to write posts here on Inside Redbox. Read on for all the details…

UPDATE: I have emailed everyone who has commented and shown interest in this position. I am closing comments on this thread for now.

First off, this is not a full-time job. I am looking for people that I can pay for each post written, with the possibility of bonuses based on how much traffic their posts bring into the site. Most days will just require 1-2 posts, with the possibility of more on busy news days.

So, what I am looking for?

  • Previous blogging experience would be nice, but is not required.
  • Good writing skills are a must, but you don’t have to be a professional.
  • Timeliness is very important, stories need to be published as soon as possible after news happens.
  • You need to like writing, and be interested in the movie industry.
  • The ability to have fun with it!
  • BONUS: Simple graphic editing skills would be great. I would really like ALL posts to have an image.

If you have been reading Inside Redbox for awhile, you probably know exactly what I am looking for. While I am not looking for someone who is a clone of me, you at least understand the style and tone of the site. That will be a big plus.

If you are interested, leave a comment.

If applicable, please make available examples of previous work. You don’t need to post them here, but please have them ready for when I contact you.

Although I’m not a professional blogger, I enjoy it and spend more time at my computer than anywhere else. I am a trained professional writer. I have been writing for print for 23 years, receiving my first newspaper position when I was 13 years old. I have studied journalism in high school and college and have written for several newspapers. I am interested in movies and the entertainment world as a whole. I have solely been renting from Redbox the last few weeks since I recently cancelled my Blockbuster Total Access subscription, so I understand the operations of both spectrums. My husband and I watch movies together as well as alone, so we rent a wide array of titles. I also have three children; a 13 year old girl and twin 8 year old boys. At any given week, nearly every newly released title is in our home! I hope you are interested and hope to be hearing from you soon!

I would love to write for your site. I have previous experience writing for a music review site unpop.com back in the early 2000’s. My family is fanatical about Redbox as we have two “boxes” within 1 mile of our home. A day doesn’t go by where one wouldn’t find at least one Redbox rental at our home.

I would consider myself a film junkie. New releases, foreign, indie, classic cinema, horror; I have strong knowledge of them all.

Please follow-up should you be interested!

I am a freelance writer and have written a column for young mom, an on-line zine. I have also been in the movie rental business since 1982, I have worked at many stores and managed a few. I have a large walking knowledge of movies and ability to name them from scenarios the customer describes or the actors names and the type of movie it was.
I have experience with Dreamweaver and some HTML editing, blogging and movies are a major interest in my life, they have been since the 80’s. In some way or another I have always been in the industry.
I use Redbox regularly and even keep up with some of the cases that they have open with studios via stock market news information.
I also have a lot of merchandising experience, and have training in several types of writing, from technical to magazine. I am able to place images within articles, have experience at creating links and also photo editing abilities.

I am interested in your opening and would like to help you with your marketing endeavors.

While I am not a blogger, I do enjoy writing a lot, and am even starting to write for my school paper this semester. I’m told I am a very good writer and think I could do great writing for Inside Redbox. I also think I can bring in more traffic to the site if I were to write for the site. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.

I currently have a site where I write beauty product reviews and I do all of the editing for the photos myself. I’m a movie-junkie and willing to try any movie (love Indie and foreign films). I also work from home, so my availabilty is open and flexible. I’d love to work for you! Thank you!

    Hi!
I’m fun, outgoing and creative. AND a great writer! This past May I graduated from Purdue University with a BA in Professional Writing. I spend all my free time writing, reading blogs, and finding new ways to waste my time on the internet. On Twitter I have over 2,000 tweets (@ebelow), so obviously I concern myself with staying up to date on the latest trends. I know all Adobe design programs, including Dreamweaver.

I couldn’t think of a more fun way to make some extra cash!

    Thanks, Elizabeth

    Hi,
I currently write a weekly column in a local newspaper, The Maine Edge – http://www.themaineedge.com, so I enjoy writing. I also keep a couple webpages updated on their site for the Frugal Edge Exclusive. I (and my entire family) enjoy movies ALOT – we go to the movies at least twice a month and rent movies at least twice a week. I have written a few movie reviews for The Maine Edge as well.
I would love to have a part time gig writing for you.
    Thank you.

I love to write! I have worked previously writing copy for the local radio stations. One of my previous copies even won a award. Writing can be very helpful when you want to just forget your troubles and focus on the job at hand. It’s almost as though your delving into a new novel for the first time and just can’t stop reading. I just get lost in all the endless possibilities of what can be written from my mind and with a little use of my fingertips. This would be ideal for me and the readers. I wouldn’t even call it a job. Lets just have some fun and go with it.

I’ve been blogging for a year and a half between two blogs, and I’ve been an avid reader of your blog for about a year. I also have a twitter account with about 2500 followers, so I’ll gladly send traffic your way! In my non-internet life, I spent the last five years teaching English, though I’m now a work-at-home mom who does computer testing for an internet startup. My graphic editing skills extend only to Gimp, but there’s something to be said for free photo-editing software! I’d love to talk with you about working together to maintain and improve this blog.

Hi! This sounds like fun and I would love the opportunity! I am online all the time and would be able to offer a moms perspective. I don’t have my own blog yet but I am planning one. I have an online store and understand the importance of a good photo. I have access to Inside Redbox at several locations near me and love the convenience. The free codes are such a nice bonus! I hope I can make your team! Thank you.

I do not have a website. My graphics experience peaks at copy/pasting. I really enjoy RedBox and have been getting these updates for a few months. I work full time and have access to a computer on and off during the day. I read some of the other comments and those folks seem way more qualified than me but I like to write and I also like extra money. Let me know if this paragraphed wowed you.

It was a dark and stormy night… Suddenly, the blackness was fractured by a flash of light! The projectionist had just started the movie District 9.
The Peter Jackson/Neil Blomkamp film was strangely appealing, though I was a bit distracted from time to time. I couldn’t decide if the flashbacks I experienced to Independence Day, The Fly, Alien Nation, and the jittery style reminiscent of the Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield were deliberate, ironic nods, inevitable collisions due to the subject matter or just derivative.
Perhaps the echoes are produced by a mixture of all three; only their therapists know for sure. I did enjoy it, though. The illusion was seamless enough to engage me for the whole movie. The poor schlub, Wikus drew me in: at first, provoking laughter, then engaging my sympathies as he displayed unexpected courage and fortitude.
The ending had enough twists and turns to keep me guessing, and left me hoping for a sequel.

(Experience: writing for local newspaper over several years, producing numerous print publications. Web design and hosting experience. I have a fairly robust set of graphic editing skillz, as well.)

Just wanted to leave my name and email so you know that I’m interested. I’m a full-time college student who would love a little bit of supplementary income to write for Redbox. I’ve written dozens of articles for my school paper, mostly media involved, and I currently write movie reviews in my spare time for a few friends who use them in personal publications. I am a fairly adept writer, and it’s a pretty long running hobby of mine. I’ve also never been late to anything! I appreciate the consideration, just contact me by email if you need any more information from me. Thanks!

    REDBOX ROCKS !!
Movies are my life, pathetic as that may sound to some. To some mundane, as for myself, most enjoyable and quite entertaining. It is the ultimate great escape, even if only for a whole 90 minutes. But it is my 90 minutes, no commercials nor interruptions……and it only cost me a dollar !!
Movies~especially comedies are great medicine, both for your physical relaxation and for your pocket. To be entertained for a mere one dollar is unheard of these days…….thank you REDBOX!!

Wow, you’ve had a lot of responses, but I’ll throw my hat into the ring. I’m the writer and owner of PoorerThanYou.com, which I’ve been blogging at for almost three years now. I’ve got all of the social media experience (Twitter/Facebook/Ustream/etc. etc.) that goes along with that. I’ve also blogged for two other sites: Zen College Life and the short-lived Chegg Blog.

I went to film school and have a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Production and Business Studies. One of my favorite hobbies is watching DVD extras (and commentaries) – after I’ve seen the movies, of course.

I have some intermediate photo editing skills, so preparing images for blog posts is no big deal for me. Basically, I’m the perfect person to do this job – email me.

    Hello Michael!

Wow…thanks for providing an opportunity for writers to enjoy doing something interesting as well as fun. Even though I am not a professional writer as yet, I have some experience with writing on various levels…in the past, I have served as a yearbook editor and a school news magazine published contributor. To mention more recent efforts: I have published poetry, one of which has been reviewed online (On A Distant Star) at http://rocowriting2.blogspot.com and I’ve joined http://www.writesight.com and http://www.hubpages.com to post future articles, blogs, etc. I wrote about a debate issue concerning vacation time featured on helium.com and other things too numerous to elaborate about here. I would consider it a pleasure/honor to write for this site! As far as graphics, I am the sister of a well established professional artist who has a long list of credentials and he would lend a hand if needed. Please contact me at my email address if you find me a worthy candidate for writing future blogs here. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Wishing you, Peace and Blessings Always!

Outside the box for Inside Redbox

I would be thrilled to help you with writing posts. I have worked for a NBC affiliate updating their web site and now work for an advertising agency handling all of their web site production. With my news background, you’ll find I can write catchy headlines and concise content. It will keep people coming back for more.

I also know basic HTML coding and can edit and post pictures easily. I also have had a couple different blogs.

    Thanks,

I would also like to be considered for the writers position. I have years of professional writing, web design, and graphics experience, and have designed dozens of sites both for myself and my clients, often using WordPress. I will send further personal information under separate cover. I would enjoy blogging for Inside Redbox (see below).

    — — — — — — — — — —

Today, the big news (besides today’s free code) is that the prestigious New York Times weighed in earlier on its homepage, with an in-depth article on the “Threat” Redbox poses to movie studios. “Read all about it” here: http://bit.ly/ICJam .

We have the usual description of the kiosks we all know and love, the terse brinkmanship and “no comment” comments from major studios, and the hand-wringing from movie industry “experts” about how those darned kiosks will surely be: (paraphrasing here) The “Death of us all! We’re doomed! All of us, do you hear?!?!!!”

So, what do we learn from today’s NY Times article about Redbox?

    – Redbox will have 22,000 kiosks out & about by year’s end.

    – Redbox and copycat kiosks have captured 22% of the movie rental market. Useless factoid alert: Each Redbox kiosk equals .001 of the total market.

    – Each Redbox holds 500 dvds. Wow. Apparently, my local Redboxes each make an estimated $497 every night. Give or take.

    – Each DVD is rented an average of 15 times, with the average rental for two days. (Yes, you are not the only one to breeze through your convenient rental process, promptly forget, then say you *really* wanted to watch your rental the following day.)

    – We find out that our hero, Mitch Lowe, founder and president of Redbox, not only attended the school of hard knocks, but is a Star Wars fan who doesn’t wear ties. (Definitely, my hero).

    – Don’t look for used, Paramount or Sony dvds for sale in your Redbox anytime soon — per an agreement with Redbox, those dvds are destroyed.

    – You don’t care, because you already own approximately 70 dvds, and enough is enough already.

    – That Mr. Lowe can throw around stats better than any studios analyst, to wit: “20 percent of Redbox’s volume is additive — people who did not previously buy or rent DVDs — and that partners like Wal-Mart have had only a 1 percent decline in sales after Redbox machines have been installed at their entrances.” Oooolé! He shoots, he scores.

    – The Redbox in Villa Park, Illinois looks just like yours. And, just like yours, you can witness children there performing the “Yea-we’re-getting-a-Redbox-DVD-for-only-$1” dance. Behold! The mind-warping abilities of the red monstrosity, corrupting our youth!!

    – The more technology changes everything, the more things stay the same. Having not learned anything from the demise of the music industry, movie execs at 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers and Universal are “furious” (oh yeah… they went there.) at how $1 per night pricing devalues their “product.” No word yet on what they think of Movie Gallery charging $5 for a five night rental. Call the lawyers!

    – On a side note, we learn that movie execs, apparently, widely suffer from “math anxiety” and thus, are not so good at all that hard numbers stuff.

    – And we learn that movie studio plumbers hate you. Yes, plumbers. Yes, you.

So, huzzah for Brooks Barnes at the New York Times, for filling us in on the latest in grumpy old-school economics vs. new technology-assisted schooling.

Now to go grab today’s free rental (T46T3Q7)…

What do you think of these developments? Will Redbox, technology, and the common man triumph? Or do Joe the plumber and friends hold the moral ground?

Again, that article is available at: http://bit.ly/ICJam (free registration at the nytimes site may be required. Darn technology.).

And depending on layout preferences, for an image, I would use a slice of the web page itself, for example, http://bit.ly/URMLf — for a reduced size, right-aligned image.

“Four score and seven years ago, our fore Fathers….” Does that sound familiar? That is just one of the speeches I wrote.

OK. You may have caught me in a lie here. I just thought that a little humor would punch up your site.

Since you have so many people interested in writing for next to nothing, why offer money? Just offerring exposure should be enough.

Now, I just saved you money and I want 1/2.

I have a higher education because all my books are on the top shelf so it is easier to avoid reading them again.

On second thought, I would rather watch another movie than write about the previous one I saw. I have a life in the backyard watching the grass grow and the snow fall.

I could not write for this site because there is no spellcheck and I don’t know how to cut and paste. I still color outside the lines, but I do share well.

Wow, looks like you have a lot of interest for this position! Might as well throw my name into the mix! :)

I worked as a paid student blogger for MiraCosta College while I was a student there in 2008. I also keep my own blog currently. (www.tabithaneal.wordpress.com) I enjoy writing; I’ve found that I express myself much better that way. English was always my favorite subject in school. I have passed AP tests in the subject and am currently studying for the California Subject Examination Test in English as I work toward my teaching credential.

I have taken computers courses and learned html coding and creating websites and am self-sufficient to find the answers if I don’t know them already.

I’m currently a full-time senior at California State University, Fullerton, and due to budget cuts at the state schools, my on-campus job has restricted the amount of hours I can work each week. It would be nice to have a little extra income.

I got sucked into Redbox with the free weekly rental codes; as a college student free is my middle name! Since the slow of codes I have still enjoyed $1 movies, finding that the cost easily fits into my budget for some evening entertainment while I hit the books.

    Thanks for your consideration,
    Tabitha Neal
