UltraViolet Comes to Xbox via Flixster

UltraVioletUltraViolet, the much-maligned but growing digital movie locker, is coming to the Xbox 360. Flixster, Warner’s digital social movie platform, is launching a free app on the Xbox that will allow users to access their UV movie collection on the console.

Besides UV access, the new Flixster app will also allow users to buy and rent movies and retrieve info about titles from Rotten Tomatoes.

Joe Greenstein, co-founder of  Flixster, said the following about the new app and its potential:

“The mission of UltraViolet is to allow consumers to enjoy their content on any device and platform they desire . . . Launching Flixster on Xbox is an exciting step forward for us as it’s one of the most popular platforms for consumers to enjoy entertainment in their living room.

As UltraViolet continues to creep into consumer consciousness, is it more and more likely that the cloud service is here to stay?

UltraViolet has been on Xbox 360, I don’t know if the Redbox app ties it in, but the Sony Pictures and Vudu apps definitely do.
