TV setSorry movies, but here in America, TV shows are the king of video-on-demand. According to a recent survey by QuickPlay Media, more than 80% of surveyed US viewers surveyed  prefer watching VOD TV shows on demand over movies.

Interestingly, Americans are also more tolerant of video ads compared to their Canadian and British counterparts. More than 60 percent of American viewers said they don’t mind ad-related interruptions to their programming, compared to 40 percent in Canada and 50 percent in the UK.

A high-quality, content-rich experience is what most survey-takers are looking for, according to QuickPlay CEO Wayne Purboo:

“Consumers are looking for more content. Service providers must factor in not only the right content but also ensure they have the right service platform to deliver HD quality multiscreen packages without compromising on quality of experience,”

How do these survey results line up with your viewing habits. Do you prefer watching TV shows on demand more than movies, and how much do ads bug you?

The issue with movies is by the time they are on services they are old and they cost too much when they are new usually so finding a good show or watching one you love is great and you can spend days watching it sometimes which is great when you really like getting into a story

Huh???? I don’t believe people do not mind commercials in their paid sites. No matter how many times you tell me that I will not believe that!!! I tried watching some shows with a commercial every 10 minutes ! Bull !! I won’t get a site that the only choice I have is one with commercials.

Been watching the current season of Mad Men through xfinity/comcast and will NOT do that again. The commercial breaks are intolerable! I would rather wait for the DVD’s. As for preference of TV vs. movies, the quality of the writing with the former far surpassed that of the latter long ago. The choice between sitting down for an evening watching one movie vs. two or three TV shows has never been easier for me.
