Citizens of the Great White North may soon be getting a Redbox kiosk in their neighborhood. Redbox is reported to be bringing its kiosks to Walmart stores across Canada, and according to a report from The Globe and Mail, Redbox has signed an agreement with Canadian convenience store operator Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.
Redbox interim president Gregg Kaplan is enthusiastic about the new expansion:
“Historically, a pretty good rule of thumb, what we’ve seen in other businesses is that Canada can get to roughly 1/10 the size of the U.S. market . . . We’re not projecting that yet because we haven’t had the experience there, but it feels like it could be sizable.

Redbox’s Canadian pricing will reportedly come in 50-cents higher than U.S. pricing for DVD, Blu-ray and video game rentals.
How well do you think Redbox will fare north of the border?

They closed the call center in Illinois in favor of outsourcing the calls to a company in Canada so might as well expand there also!
My friend in Victoria Island, BC says he watched Inglorious Basterds from a redbox there about a year ago, in a safeway, so they aren’t already in Canada, you’re saying??
It wasn’t a Redbox. It must have been a competitor.
There are DVD rental kiosks in Canada called DVDPlay. They are red and look similar to Redbox kiosks, however they are owned by a totally different company.
If Redbox expands to Canada they will.have to compete with
Zip.ca.
their suggested pricing would be similar as Zip.ca charges $2 for both standard and blue ray.
