According to new data from Parrot Analytics :

“HBO Now’s “Game of Thrones” has generated 28.2 million “demand expressions” in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, well more than Netflix’s new series “Narcos (14.

In other words, HBO’s top show demonstrates nearly double the interest of its closest Netflix competitor. Interestingly, when removing GOT from the equation, demand for Netflix and HBO shows reaches near-parity.

Will Netflix be able to keep pumping out high-quality original shows that will rival HBO? Or will the cost to compete simply get too high?

    Amazon should have been mentioned as another player. The cost of acquiring content and the revenue potential will will make Netflix’s strategy a money loser. It should focus on REISSUING others’ content–like ‘Game of Thrones’ after the fact and at a lower price.

    To me you really have to throw out GoT in this discussion because it’s a show that had a loyal and strong fanbase established before the show even started. the better comparison is the netflix shows to all non GoT options that HBO offers.
