According to a new report from The NPD Group, fully 50 percent of U.S. homes connected to the internet also own a device connecting their TV to the web.
Such a device could be a smart TV, gaming console, Roku-type player, or smart Blu-ray player.
John Buffone executive director of connected intelligence at NPD, summed up this shift thusly:
“The increase in the number of homes that use a TV with apps is the result of three very important factors, . . . Sales of TVs with apps have skyrocketed, their user interfaces have improved and there has been a surge in available premium services and programming . . . We’re living in the Golden Age of TV where significant investments are being made in developing original series.

How about a computer?
Yes, we have a smart Blu-ray and a Roku and use a lot.
