A 900-pound gorilla bearing a gleaming white Apple logo may be about to stomp into your territory. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple may be finalizing plans for an online TV service that will launch later this year.

Citing “people familiar with Apple’s ongoing talks”, the Journal claims that the service will be available on Apple’s devices and feature content from ABC, CBS, Fox, and other content providers.

The service, which may roll out as early as September, will likely cost to per month.

Do you think that Apple could be a viable competitor in this space and peel away even more subscribers from traditional cable providers?

Amazing how they are all going to streaming technology out of fear of loss, which is exactly what is happening, cable cutters are a growing trend for sure.

You are so right. But the thing will be.. The online streaming is going to take a hit. When the Caps kick in on your Net Use.. Do you know if you stream just 7 HD movies on NetFlix a month. You are going to go over your 300 GB cap that Comcast wants to put on your net use. When the get Time Warner…
And that is not with your everyday net use. Think if you have a Family of 4,5.
you will be over your caps in no time. And your net Bill will be pushing $175-200 a month.. not good…
      Just a thought!

Agreed, but with new compressed data technologies, things are changing quickly and this is why we see everyone getting into streaming. And if the cable companies get greedy, as they all do, then go to satellite internet where caps don’t exist, or should I say not yet. lol

Bottom line, not all streaming uses same data consumption, so it should be interesting to see what the future holds on pricing, but for now, take advantage of free streaming content is what I am doing. I am saving enough in my first two months to pay for media center and no more premiuon or PPV fees, so we shall see what technology will do to entertainment content medium.

What you say is right… This will be a real kick to watch it all play out.
And I bet a few will sue over a few things. And on it will drag out.
And like you. I am watching what I can on streaming..

That’s not enough savings from cable for most people to bother with.

It will start off ok. As all the Apple Nut’s will go to it. But it will slack off in a time.. Just not worth it..
