The small screen in your pocket is quickly supplanting the much bigger one in your entertainment center as the main source of content-viewing, according to a new study from the NPD Group.
According to the study, 81 percent of American smartphone users steam videos on their handheld devices. Streaming video use is especially high among younger users, with 25-year-olds and younger spending twice as much time on Netflix and YouTube mobile apps than older people.
The rise of the “phablet” large-screened mobile phone has only encouraged users to watch more online content. Brad Akyuz, research director NPD connected intelligence mobility, said the following about his firm’s report:
“Users are spending more time watching videos on their smartphones as adoption of larger displays increases,”

I have Netflix, Hulu, CBS, HBO, Showtime on my phone.
But don’t use them much. But it’s nice to have if you want to watch something..
I’m old school, rather use my 55″ screen and not swink into a small screen on my cell. I mirror the device to the large TV and enjoy watching the flicks in the comfort of my home.
