I know the 1x code I got emailed to me had a 45 day expiration. Maybe after you use that 1x code within the 45 days, during the remainder of that 45 days anyone else who tries that code, if shared, will go thru the process of it being accepted than rejected as 'promo code already used' only after they swipe the card/put in their zip. After the 45 days, whether the 1x code was used or not, it becomes invalid and should say so immediately when punched in the kiosk. I'll try the T25JZD4 code that I got/used on July 8 b/c of the jammed kiosk, on around August 25th to see if the kiosk immediately says 'promo code already used' or 'invalid code' and will report back then.....if I remember!

I have actually done that already, but one just got through because I am working on the comments area. That is why you are seeing a different format.

I just tested one of my own one time use codes that I already used and it did the same thing, looked good $0.00 and went all the way, making you swipe (I used a different card).

I also tried a one time code that I didn't use last month and it expired, it told me it was not valid right after I typed it in.

My experience over the last year or so was that a one time code would tell you it's not valid/already used right after you type it in. Seems like something changed.

What we need is a big notice that tells people not to enter any one time use codes on the list here. Or mark them so it's obvious. You are going to need a check box that clearly explains what a one time use code is or makes it super obvious because I don't think people understand the difference.

I think you completely missed JJ's point.

He never said the codes should have worked. Not all will, obviously. His point is Redbox knows (or should know) a code is invalid the moment it is typed in but says nothing.

Instead it accepts it until the CC swipe and zip, and only then complains, wasting the customer's time. (And that of any others in line behind them.)

Michael...As suggested before, time you block the ability for bloggers to go into the archives and pull up that archive to make comments. Seems 'someone' has a 'vendetta' and is trying real hard to bring out the worst to sabotage this site. And what's up with this new format/font/what ever it's called? rb

Just be glad that RedBox is still $1 rentals per night.
I bet BlockBuster thought LONG AND HARD about
pushing their model of "$1.99 first night, $1 after"
against the industry standard until someone told them
not to.

With costs rising and businesses failing, I'm just glad
Redbox is still here, providing entertainment for $1 a night.
If they NEVER give FREE Codes again, except for problems
as rb said, I'd be happy and it wouldn't phase me one bit.
