RedBox-LogoRedbox just launched its Play Pass customer loyalty program, but it’s already planning on sweetening the deal. The kiosk operator has announced that it will reward double points for each movie rental during December, reducing the number of rentals needed for a free movie by half.

About Play Pass:

The free Play Pass loyalty program that began in October will award 20 points instead of the usual 10 for each movie or game members rent. When they reach 100 points, they get a credit good for a one-day movie rental.

There’s no limit to the number of credits that can be earned.

Mike Wokosin, VP of digital marketing with Redbox, is enthusiastic about the enhanced program:

“December will be a great month for family entertainment at Redbox,”

Does this enhancement make you more likely to join/use Play Pass? Or does it smack of desperation to be improving the program so quickly after its launch?

Sounds simple… People are not buying into it much… So they need to up the deal…
This may help the Box some. But not much.
They will need to more then this… But it is a start….

You got it.. People are not going for it…..
The Box is going to need to do much more.
To get back to the way they want it.
And they need to make it 48 Hrs.. Not 24……
And they need to keep the price down as much as possible.

I understand they must do something.
They have a loss to cover on the streaming deal they went south. They may get a big bus tax wright off on that? It’s all on how there accounting is set up. But I know from accounting tax class. They can take a good Tax Wright off on it. But still not all of it. Then the Movie people want more from them to Rent the DVD’S .
They are going to take a loss for sometime yet. But they can still make it..
As I have said in the past… They need to give you 48 Hrs. Not just 24..
And they need two Box’s at every place… One for DVD’S One for Blu-Ray’s
    $1.50 DVD.. $2.00 Blu-ray….. 48 hrs… And have a good choice of Movies…
    Just my two bits…
