Inside Redbox is the #1 "Unofficial" Redbox Online Community for Redbox Codes, News and more. Inside Redbox is not affiliated with Redbox Automated Retail, LLC.

Redbox and Disney have not had the best relationship over the years, and this latest news probably won’t help things too much. Recently, Redbox started selling discounted digital downloads of major Disney movies, even though Redbox and the Mouse House don’t have a formal relationship.

When they click here, Redbox customers are taken to a page entitled “Digital Codes at the Box” which features such recent Disney hits as Rogue One, Finding Dory, and Dr. Strange. Pricing for many of the digital codes is half or even less the cost to download the same movies from iTunes and other online marketplaces. Buyers simply purchase their code online and then “buy at the box.”

Deadline reached out to Kate Brennan, head of communications for Redbox, who provided the following cryptic statement:

“While we don’t disclose the source, we’re pleased to sell these original digital movie code inserts to our customers at the great value they expect from Redbox.”

Judging by the tenor of Brennan’s comment, Disney may not be fully on board with Redbox selling its hit movies for such low prices. Grab some popcorn and let’s see how this plays out, shall we?
