Redbox Poaching Hollywood Execs

175_90_RedboxWith its kiosk rentals flat and more costly content deals potentially on the horizon, Redbox is looking to deepen its executive bench to help weather the storm. Former  Warner Bros. exec Mike Saksa has joined Redbox as its SVP of content.

Saksa joins former Warner colleague Mark Horak, who left the studio earlier this year to become the president of Redbox.

Saksa’s role will include leading Redbox’s content strategy across movies and games and building a content marketing team to oversee title marketing, digital marketing, and content analytics.

Horak said the following about Saksa’s transition to Redbox:

“The appointment of industry veteran Mike Saksa, and the creation of an L.A.-based content marketing team, will allow us to work more closely with studios and publishers interested in leveraging Redbox’s deep relationships with millions of consumers to drive incremental revenue for their new release titles,”

Will beefing up its executive team with former Hollywood execs pay off for Redbox in the long run?

No! Not Unless RedBox is willing to put out some BIG BIG MONEY.
1.A. The streaming needs to GO! And that means they will need to work out something with Verizon. As in paying them millions on end to drop it.
2.B. Put two machines at every RedBox place. One for DVD’S One for Blue-Ray’s.
$1.25 And $1.50 for the price. And make it so you can keep the DVD’s 48 Hrs.
3.C. RedBox will need to take a BIG time loss and wright off. But they can do it if they really want to.
4.D. And have some good movies at the Box. And new one’s also.
If RedBox does not do something soon. They could be the next Block Buster.
    Just a thought.
RedBox need’s to go back to the start. Just the Great Fun REDBOX…

    RedBox need’s to wake up.
They must have something that the people want. And that is NOT.
    1. A new price.
    2. The streaming.
    3. And the same old movies.
Wake up RedBox. You need to go back to the very start.
What you had at the very start worked great. Go back to it.
Yes! you may need to up the price a bit. Say 5, 10 cents..
You still have a chance RedBox.. Make good use of it….
And find a way to drop the streaming and your deal with Verizon.
If you don’t. You may be the next Block Buster.

They get two new movies a week here recently. The content is way down. They need to find a way to expand the weekly release options if they want to rent more. No one wants another streaming service…
