Redbox Parent Company Outerwall May be Looking to Sell

RedBox-LogoAfter Redbox’s rough performance in the most recent financial quarter, parent company Outerwall has announced that it has initiated a process to “explore strategic and financial alternatives” to maximize shareholder value.

Some in the industry think this means that Redbox and its sister companies may soon go up for sale.

Outerwear has retained financial advisors and legal advisors to facilitate this “exploration.” Outerwear CEO Eric Prusch said the following in a regulatory filing:

“The board and management team will evaluate all options thoughtfully and carefully with the support of our advisors . . . Throughout the review process, Outerwall will remain focused on executing on our operational plans.”

Some however, think that Outerwall my not be looking to sell, but rather to improve internal efficiencies. Wedbush Securities media analyst Michael Pachter said the following:

“They’re looking to maximize cash flow, which means cost-cutting and generating more revenue . . . If management is able to stabilize the Redbox business, the company is likely to attract private equity interest.

    This is the next step. In English. RedBox is starting to sink faster. And need’s some big bucks to keep going. Selling would be one way to go. Are have some Co come on with them.. HULU,NetFlix, Amazon????
    This is one way to see who may want to Buy,become part of RedBox.
    When you do this. It’s the first step to sell. They are testing the water.
