    Let’s see…

    4 direct-2-redbox™ titles:

    -2012: Doomsday
    -Homecoming
    -Peacock
    -Wind Chill

    Two titles for the kiddies:

-Jack And The Beanstalk [2010 version]
-Sonic The Hedgehog: Freedom Fighters Unite

Probably the best of the lot:

    -The Blind Side

    Good reviews:

    -The Young Victoria
[might be worth a promo code as a “chick flick”]

    Most controversial:

    -The Lovely Bones
[worth a promo code for its $65 million budget, Peter Jackson’s direction and a large recognisable cast.]

Overall not a bad week. There should be something for just about everyone.

Wind Chill has been available to rent for 3 YEARS. I love how REDBOX has to recycle old movies just to get enough titles in their machines.

What about Crazy Heart? And Avatar comes out on April 22. I would at least expect Avatar to be in Redbox.

Anyways I have already seen The Blind Side. I thought it was an excellent movie. Definatly worth renting. The only movie coming out this week that I plan to rent is Crazy Heart (if it’s in Redbox or not). I also plan to buy Avatar. That is an excellent movie!

hopefully redbox gets some movies i want next week

2nd week in a row netflix did not send me a single new movie so i cancelled ( lucky the higher ups agreed to give me 50% refund — offered 25% off for next 2 months but with the 28 delay there is not going to be any real new movies anymore)

back to redbox i go next week

I’m canceling my Netflix account too. Only reason I’d want to stay is for streaming but I’m not going to. I may get back on but this time with the 1 dvd out at a time instead of the 3 out at a time that I was using. But then again I never used the streaming service either.

Crazy Heart and Avatar should be available in Redbox this week because they are listed on the poster next to Redbox machines as movies being released “Also in April”.

Crazy Heart and Avatar will not be in RedBox for 28 days. Don’t you think they would list them if they would have them? RedBox is crazy for agreeing to the 28 day delay.

The other most vital issue to think about is the compatibility with the present plant. This needs to be taken care of seriously in any other case it’ll price you high. Considering these components will assist you arrive at a ultimate choice which won’t only save your cost but also present added functionality.

BB would be useful if they actually had the DVDs they advertise, but they don’t have Crazy Heart in any of the machines around where I live. Plus the design of their machine sucks.

They don’t even have any machines in San Antonio, TX. And were the 7th largest city in the US as of the last Census. We’ve gotten bigger so I’m expecting this city to have gone further up on the list once the 2010 Census is done.

I just rented “Blind Side” this morning and noticed that “RedBox”
    has there own “Logo-Icon”
at the bottom of the DVD
    with the same
    coloring theme of the colors of this DVD;
    hmmm,
are they getting smart and burning their OWN?

I think this may be due to their agreement with Warner.

Warner makes special discs for them to rent that cannot be resold. If Redbox started reselling these, it would be easy to know it was them since their logo is on the disc.

Pretty smart of the studios to do this, actually…

I wasn’t under the impression that the bb kiosks actually have the new movie titles. I thought this was just the brick and mortar stores. Am I mistaken?

I called custmer servie and Avatar is by a studio that does NOT require them to delay so it will be available tomorrow. The question now is what time? I’d rather spend a buck at Redbox than over five bucks at Blockbuster. Blockbuster needs to find another additional source of revenue — like coffer or decent food to take home. Charging five bucks is criminal. They should also have interactive previews, etc. The experience at Blockbuster is better than Redbox where people are breathing over your shoulder waiting for you or taking their sweet time when it’s time to return. But it’s not worth four bucks unless I go home with some Wolfgang Puck or maybe just a five dollar Subway sandwich. Maybe they can make it so you can eat the movie after you’re done watching it! ha ha!

I don’t know where you are located but you might check out the DVDnow kiosks in your area because they have the new movies on the street date. We have been renting Blind Side for 3 weeks and Sherlock Holmes also. Tomorrow the 22nd we will have Avatar for rent along with Crazyheart and Lovely Bones and Young Victoria. Enjoy.

    ********** BREAKING NEWS ***********

Fox, Universal Make Deals With Redbox

    By : Chris Tribbey | Posted: 22 Apr 2010
    ctribbey@questex.com

Kiosk operator Redbox came to terms with both 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Universal Studios Home Entertainment April 22, signing multiyear distribution agreements that delay new-release DVDs for 28 days after street date, further strengthening the studios’ push to create a sellthrough window for DVD.

The agreements end the legal dispute Redbox had with both studios over their attempts to delay new-release DVDs at the rental kiosks. Universal had sought a 45-day window, while Fox had been seeking a 30-day delay. The agreements mirror one made between Warner Home Video and Redbox in February, which also involves a 28-day window, and also ended a lawsuit between those two companies.

Both new agreements cover Blu-ray Disc as well. For Universal, the first title to be delayed under the agreement is the April 27 release of It’s Complicated. For Fox, the first title delayed under the agreement is the April 22 release of Avatar. Both agreements call for Redbox to destroy titles after their rental lives are up.

“While this arrangement mutually benefits our two companies, it’s more importantly a win for consumers who will now have increased access to Universal films at more than 20,000 Redbox locations nationwide,” said Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. “In forging this pact, we have successfully established balanced terms for our rental products in Redbox kiosks that provide consumers value and convenience in movie rentals.”

Mike Dunn, president of 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, added, “This arrangement upholds our retail and rental strategy, while allowing us to continue to deliver the best available movies and TV shows in the market to our customers. We aggressively seek out ways to provide the greatest access to all our content while ensuring it makes the best sense for our business.”

“[These] agreements enable Redbox to fulfill our commitment to providing consumers affordable and convenient home entertainment,” said Redbox president Mitch Lowe.

Wise move by Redbox….Redbox consumers want low rental prices and a larger quantity of titles to choose from…Compromise is a good thing!

right like redbox had a choice. i suppose they chose to sign this contract the day of the all time boxoffice grossing film because they gad another option. also along with getting tha A titles 28 days later they get to cram all the studios B titles in the box as part of the deal.

          Firstlawofnature [visitor]

If they had no choice why were they doing a work around for years? Look redbox, without asking permission, starting turning $20, $10 & $5 bills into a $1. Consumers have spoken and there’s plenty of demand at that pricing. Now Mr. studio wants to turn that dollar back into a five dollar bill. Good luck cause it won’t be easy even with a delay.

What thing are you willing to pay 4 to 15x higher for than you do now?

This is weird because I just rented Crazy Heart from Redbox today (seriously!). This website is gonna need some updating (and they still didn’t change the year for the Jack and the Beanstalk dvd)

I don’t think this move is going to be profitable. Avatar just came out and seeing as that movie made so much money at the box office it will hurt Redbox quite a bit. And now we have to deal with the Blockbuster ads that they made for WB movies saying that they have those movies but Redbox doesn’t. And now we have to rent rental copies of Fox movies. Oh well, the good thing about this deal is that these movies will actually now have a release date.

Guess it’s Blockbuster for Avatar and It’s Complicated. Sucks too. Had to do this with the 2 best movies from last year. At least the 2 movies I thought were the best from what I’ve seen.

fox and universal sign 28 day delay with redbox. no avatar. paramount will be next. hungry for crow yet lantz?

I hope not. Also I could of sworn that Paramount had already signed a new agreement with Redbox just last year.

      • Visitor [Join Now]
        Joe Schmuck [visitor]

THey did. In fact they have signed 2 temporary agreements. The first one expired on December 31st, 2009. They then made another agreement which gave Paramount the opportunity to “Opt Out” by June 30th, 2010.
Look for Paramount to opt-out of the agreement and sign similar deals as Warner, Universal, & Fox.

10 years ago did 13mm americans keep a list of 75 movies they wanted to see in the future? No. If you think redbox can’t change behavior then short a bunch of shares. Skipping an extra trip and $1 a night will shift your 4 weeks out.
