UPDATE: “The Unborn” not coming to Redbox…
Several members of this site have commented that Redbox told them that “The Unborn” was not going to be available and was being pulled from kiosks. No reason was given, but it likely has something to do with it being a Universal title, and related to the lawsuit.

Michael, I just did movie comments on some of the movies I’ve seen the past couple weeks BUT I couldn’t get the “star” ratings to work. I was logged in, wrote the comment , and then clicked the star that I thought fit my comment. None of the stars turned red. What am I doing wrong as this has happened before? Also, when the monthly Monday code comes out, and we haven’t received an email from Inside Redbox/you yet with the code, BUT in the blogs a blogger puts the code–like today 4J7LF6–and then that code shows up at the top of the code page, how do we know it’s legitimate and not just a troll/jokester blogger with an invalid code? Is there a way that we can identify a code on the Code Page as being put there ONLY by YOU? It’s now 10:30 am eastern time and 4J7LF6 is on the code page, but I thought the code isn’t issued until 10am central time so hesitant to go try it yet. Thanks

Does anyone know when the movie “The Contract” with Morgan Freeman is coming to Redbox?
Probably never as it came out a long time ago (2006), so why would they stock it now? Pretty decent movie though, I saw it when it came out and I’d say it’s worth a rent. Rent it from Hollywood Video or Blockbuster.
It “was” in the kiosk already…… I rented it…… It was OK. Don’t know if it’s still in there. (The one with John Cusack and Morgan Freeman?)
Yeah you’re right, it might be in some of the kiosks still yet but I doubt it because they rotate there stock for the new movies. You can do a search for it on Redbox to see.

i talked to a csr today about the unborn. she said it wasn’t going to be released and they were pullng them from the kiosks. wouldn’t tell me why though. don’t know if that only applies to houston or not. let me know if you heard different. thanks.
That actually makes a bit of sense, because when I got the list of movies for the week, I noticed that “The Unborn” artwork was there, but the DVD was not actually in the kiosk. I went ahead and added it to the list since I did see the artwork, but it may indeed be pulled and not available for rent. If I learn any more about what is happening with it, I will let you know.
One thing of note is that “The Unborn” is a Universal title. Perhaps it being added and then pulled has something to do with the Redbox/Universal lawsuit. If it is indeed not released at Redbox, this make signal that some deal is about to be made. We’ll have to wait and see…

yes it is but some times you might have to wait until 12 :01 till you see the movie is there ..
the movie unborn was not available for rent in louisville ky, this sucks because I got up at 6:00am to rent it! Why is this movie not available?
Maybe because it’s just sooooo crappy that Redbox doesn’t want to carry it!
Got to agree with Moviecrazy. The Unborn got really terrible reviews so I wouldn’t be soooooo disappointed that Redbox is not carrying it.

Here in El Paso, Tx. I woke up at 5:30am to go rent the Unborn and it wasn’t available at any Redbox. I also rushed home after about 6 different kiosks and jumped online. I did a search for a movie and input my zip. None of 10 different kiosks had it available. I also tried another zip here in El Paso and the same thing happened. I emailed Redbox and received the following reply:
“Hello,
Thank you for your e-mail. I apologize for the inconvenience. However, Redbox will no longer be carrying the title that you are looking for. The Unborn is no longer offered at any redbox kiosk. We had the title for a brief period of time before all copies have been removed from circulation. We are updating our website to reflect this. The change just went into place.
We apologize that you cannot rent this title with us. We do appreciate your business and your loyalty! Thank you for choosing Redbox!

I went online today to get the unborn, I noticed that it was there but says view other titles for every location, then I went back sometime later and saw that it wasnt there at all, what gives…..???
Why is everybody so shocked that The Unborn is not available??? People The Unborn is a Universale title. Universal has an active lawsuit against Redbox (which if you didnt already know that youve been living in a hole and not came out within the last year or so). So going forward if there is a title that comes out and its Universal, then plan ahead to use another renting source as Redbox will not have it. thanks for your time!

I was watching online for “Knowing” at about 3PM, all sold out. But just for fun I kept watching/refreshing and 3 times at 2 different locations it pops up as available for about 10 minutes then goes away.
Whats up with that?
If it just came out today, who would return it today? And why did it seem like just about the same amount of time that it was available?

I was pissed off also when they didn’t have the unborn.. I guess I did just come out from a hole because I had no idea about the universal crap. Now I have to spend 5 dollars at blockbuster! It better be good lol

Saw knowing and it was good, some parts I had to rewind n watch again. We looked all over for unborn. Thanks for the info. Guess I should read the forum from time to time n get out the hole lol

FYI since Dvdxpress is owned by the same company as Redbox and on the surface they appear to be independent of one another, I suspect the lawsuit affects Dvdxpress machines just the same. I have been looking at their machines (their is one about 2blocks from me) and they claim on their pamphlet that it was supposed to come out on July 10th ’09. I checked this morning as of 5:30 am El Paso, Tx. time and none of their machines (at least through internet) had it in their inventory. So if you were like me and had hope of getting “The Unborn” through Dvdxpress, then you better think again because I don’t think its going to happen. Just wanted to share this with you all.
