As it prepares for future growth and success, Redbox is beefing up its executive team.

The latest member to join is new SVP of content David Asch, who is tasked with overseeing Redbox’s content strategy and acquisitions.

Gregg Kaplan, president and COO of Coinstar and interim president of Redbox, said the following about Asch’s promotion:

“Redbox is proud to welcome David to the Redbox executive committee and as a member of our leadership team . . . His vast industry expertise and business savvy are ideal qualities that will fit perfectly within the dynamic and exciting environment of Redbox, and we look forward to David’s contributions to our business.

No doubt one of Asch’s biggest priorities will be securing sufficient content for the imminent launch of Redbox Instant, the imminent streaming service jointly owned by Verizon. With a new specialist on board, should we expect to see a better selection of content from Redbox going forward?

I will stay with NetFlix for the Online deal. They have over 2500 movies and TV shows with CC. Closed Caption on them. And at $8.00 bucks a month. Can’t beat it. I bet RedBox set up online will not have Closed Caption. And why should I pay what. A buck something to watch 1 movie. Eight movies I have payed for a month of NetFlix. Why get only eight. When I can get all I want for eight bucks a month on NetFlix. RedBox will need to set up a monthy deal if they want this deaL TO WORK…

Verizon will muck up anything Redbox might try to accomplish. I see Verizon only apps for their droid phones and wonky pricing in the future of this joint venture.
