This latest news can’t be encouraging: the service has ceased to accept new account signups, allegedly due to illegal third-party behavior.

According to the company’s website:

“Our monitoring systems detected that criminals were misusing our new customer registration process to validate credit card numbers illegally obtained from some other sources . . . We are taking this step to make sure that criminals are not misusing our system to hurt innocent third parties.

We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement as needed,”

Redbox Instant claims that existing customers have no need to worry about their sensitive information being exposed and they should be able to continue to use the service unimpeded.

RedBox need’s to go back to plan A.

DROP THE INSTANT. This is not the first time for this bit.

And just have the DVD’s at the box.
Get better box’s And have two at every place. One for DVD’s . One for Blue-Ray’s. $1.25 for a DVD. $1.50 for a Blue-Ray. And make the time. 48 Hrs.
And have some good movies. If they did this. Things will pick up for them.
Sad to say it. But there streaming is a flop. And needs to go.

I have the streaming but have only watched 2 movies in 5 months. The selection is poor. I should have dropped it but they give you the 4 credits reducing the cost to a few dollars. Just lazy now but will drop soon.

Really sad they think people are so stupid they’ll buy this crap? Thier selection wasn’t that bad & the streaming wasn’t as bad as others.

DanoFive0 has some great suggestions that I second.

Two boxes at every location – one for DVDs & one for Blu-rays. $1.25 for a DVD, $1.50 for a Blu-ray. And make the rental period 48 hours.

Skip the streaming altogether. There’s really no need for it between Netflix and Amazon.

It would also be nice to start seeing some special features added to Redbox discs. Just because I rent doesn’t mean I don’t want to see the special features. This is one of my absolute least favorite things about Redbox!

      Hi,

The one big thing is….. Verizon has a big hand in this. Now with the streaming.
Even in RedBox wanted to do as I had said.
Maybe they can’t? They can’t just tell Verizon good bye!
      This is again.
A… had a good thing going. Brought B in.
And thought we can make a killing.
And it did not happen… And it’s only going to get worse.
Verizon will need to take a very big Tax’s wright off as a loss.
RedBox will need to do the same. The thing is. Are they ready to do it.
(NO). …. The ship has gone down. But they don’t want to face it….
      So it will drag on…

I’m sorry that I ramble on incessantly about the same things over and over and that I can’t construct a sentence or paragraph that makes any sense. I will try to do better.

This is not the first time they have shut down new signups for this. So at this point I have no faith that they are being honest. Just admit it’s a failure and move on.

They will not admit it’s a failure. Verizon, NO WAY..
They will just keep on trying to get people to come over over…
I give it about a year are so. And it will crap out..
Are the Box will get with it and try something new.
Are NetFlix are Amazon will buy them out.
      Zip. End of story..

Maybe they got it? And see it as a bad deal. And are getting ready to take a wright off on it as a loss.
They could take it as a tax wright off. As big as they are, they could find a way to wright it off and move on. And let RedBox go back as being RedBox disc only.

Did you finish 3rd grade? I’ve seen elementary school students write, spell, and compose sentences better than that.
