Redbox expanding Walgreens partnership

Earlier today Redbox announced that they will be adding Redbox kiosks in 1800 more Walgreens locations.

From the press release:

[Redbox] announces an agreement with Walgreens to expand the presence of redbox automated DVD rental kiosks to approximately 2,000 Walgreens stores nationwide. Currently available at nearly 250 Walgreens locations, redbox will install kiosks at approximately 1,800 additional Walgreens stores during 2008 and 2009.

The expansion of redbox to Walgreens locations nationwide follows the successful test of the fully-automated per night DVD rental service in Chicago, Houston, Phoenix and Columbus, Ohio-area Walgreens.

This is good news for me, because I have a Walgreens just 1 block from my house.  Now I can be even more lazy and not have to go 2 blocks to Walmart or 3 blocks to McDonald’s and/or Albertsons. :)

    Going east I have a McDonalds about 3 blocks away and an Albertsons about 2 blocks away. This time of year I generally use the Albertsons because I hate standing out in the cold.

    I have one at Shaw’s and one at Hannaford’s and they are both about a mile away – but in opposite directions. For Maine, that’s considered being pretty close! :)

    Go to any of the Giant Eagle stores in Canton…they have redboxes.

    I have to get in the car but there is a Smiths Food across the
    street from a Walgreens which is next to a McDonalds.All 3 will
    have a kiosk when Walgreens gets on board.(6 blocks/3/4 mile).
