Redbox Billing… Simplified

I have noticed quite a bit of talk lately regarding strange charges and other billing issues with Redbox…

Redbox has heard you and is making some changes to their billing process. From a Redbox email:

New! Easier Billing Process

Tracking your rental charges made easy! Redbox will only charge you once, after you return your last DVD. Rent one DVD, one charge. Rent five DVDs, one charge. It’s that simple.

(Note: You will see a temporary “authorization hold” of $1.00 on your debit/credit card statement; rest assured, it will be released within 3-14 days after your rental.)

I HAD A HORRIBLE EXERIENCE WITH REDBOX THAT EVERYONE CAN LEARN FROM< I RENTED 3 MOVIES, AND RETURNED THEM THE FOLLOWING DAY, ALMOST A MONTH LATER AND A WEEK BEFORE MY 3 KIDS WERE TO START SCHOOL, MY CARD WAS DECLINED, COME TO FIND OUT I WAS CHARGED NEARLY $80 FOR MOVIES THAT WERE RETURNED. THEY HAVE YET TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM OR GIVE ME MONEY BACK, MY CHILDREN ARE GOING WITHOUT BECAUSE THIS WAS ALL I HAD LEFT BEFORE MY NEXT PAYDAY IN 2 WEEKS…..I HATE REDBOX

After reading all these, I am getting worried, As a word of warning, even deleting your credit card will not solve future abuse problems.

When you transact a payment this way, example rent 5 days, instead of redbox deducting $1 everyday for your rental, it will deduct $5 when you return. So the software works by capturing your credit card and deducting when and where they wish.

Well I hope you get it worked out, But this is an example of why you should always have reciepts emailed to you, so you could catch things like this long before they get to this point.

email reciepts from redbox are as important as detailed billing is on cell phone plans because the companies are less likely to screw your stuff up if you have records of everything.

I tried to return 2 movies the night after they were due, and it wouldn’t let me return them. It was Bean’s Holiday and rush hour 3. They were late because of this problem. I finally tried the next day and it let me return them. I was charged for a extra day for both movies. The email address that I gave in the required field is a old email but it is the one in my redbox account. I have a new email address. caseyhunt27@yahoo.com Thanks!!!

If free rentals are won on occaison with promo codes and manipulation of the system how can you just reverse charges like you are not doing anything wrong? Anybody else? Start paying attention to your bills !
