Redbox, after a failed streaming venture with Verizon a few years ago, seems to be more confident in its more recently launched Redbox On Demand service. So much so, it seems, that the company has hired a new general manager.

Chris Yates has been tipped to be the new General Manager of Redbox On Demand. Yates has been in the content production and distribution world for a long time now.

 Galen Smith, CEO of Redbox, was effusive about the new appointment:

“Less than a year out from our beta launch, On Demand, has surpassed major milestones and is a rapidly growing player in the competitive digital home entertainment space . . . Having Chris at the helm of an incredibly talented team will help take Redbox On Demand to the next level.”

Jason Kwong, Redbox Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer, had similar sentiments:
