I am very thankful to Redbox for all the months of free codes every Monday that could be used with every Credit & Debit card we have, but I really wish those of us who don’t have cell phones were now able to get the Monday code too. I don’t need a cell phone since I work from home, so why am I penalized? Thanks!

People need to stop whining about not texting. You don’t text? Oh well, you don’t get to save $1 on something. You all complain every month about the same thing, as if redbox owes you free movies whether you text or not.
Actually everyone can use the code and you can use it more than once if you swipe more than one credit card. Just sayin. Someone always posts the code on here so you don’t need text, just come here and get the code.

Sorta agree with Tinybrat. Same thing as all these places doing only things for people with iphones/ipads or blackberry phones. some people just get left out. What about those that dont have a cell or internet, their left out as well
For those of you that don’t have text, go to Google Voice (http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/) and set up an account. You can receive txt msgs through it for free, plus have a number that calls your cell, but can filter calls, etc. Neat service.
@Dave: Actually, Google Voice does not support texting to/from short code numbers, which is what redbox is (727272). So that’s not really a solution.
@tinybrat: People who don’t have texting are going to whine. People who can’t stand people whining about texting will whine about that. And then people who can’t stand people whining about people whining about texting will whine about that. The cycle will go on, and we’ll flood the world with our tears, yay!

The decision to switch to text-message delivery and a one-time-use code was deliberate. It was an intentional decision to dramatically reduce the quantity of free rentals. If it was an idea Redbox had wanted to compromise on, they’d have delivered one-time-use codes via e-mail. They’re well aware that the texting population is a subset of the e-mailing population.
I signed up for Redbox…but I must be confused…i have yet to receive any free codes via email or text message! can someone clue me in?? LOL
I do not text and I do not have a cell phone so I lose no matter what. What’s the purpose of text only codes anyway? Does Redbox own stock in the Cell Phone companies? Go Netflix, it’s cheaper and they have more movies.

I do not text for various reasons and like those before me do not like to be discriminated against. There is enough of that already in this world. Tell us how to get the free codes by e-mail for equality.
Why not have boh of best worlds? Use email one month and text the next? Or just mix it up all the time! Not everyone checks their email everyday, so there are alot of people who would miss it that way too! Geez, we wouldn’t want to leave anyone out, would we? Chill people!

I do not think that I can get text because tracfone will not except from short numbers such as redbox. Either way I can not find where to put in my cell phone number. I looked in profile but did not see anything. Where is it?

The company redbox and insideredbox.com have no affiliation except that insideredbox.com looks for the codes and posts them on this site.

Interesting, some say that the code will work multiple times but my code today is different than the ones that were listed. I gave mine to someone once and they were NOT able to use it. It really does appear that my code at least is only usable by 1 person — the one with my email address/phone number and credit card. Just my experience.

you can always search online for free codes for rentals. it says right below this box that insideredbox.com is not affiliated with Redbox! and the text i get with a free rental is a 1 time, 1 use code. that means 1 rental with code! you can not use it again with a different card or let someone else us it. i get it once a month. so why are people making a big deal that they do not get to save $1 in a whole month? do these people also complain that they do not get all the other deals can only get thru different cell phone applications? if you feel you should be getting these deals to then GET A CELL PHONE! text messages do not cost that much, and do not need to use special lingo to text. if you can email and use the interent (which obviously you can if you are on here) then you can use text messaging.

Okay well the reason they do cell phones instead of emails is simple. How many cell phones do most people have ONE people can create multiple email address easy and get more then one code it cost nothing for an email address. I guess they figure that no one is stupid enough to open another cell phone account just get free $1 rental. I’m just greatful that they give us a free movie every month however I wish that you had more then one day to use it not everyone can make it to the redbox on a monday. Blu rays are $1.50 & games are $2.00 and the codes have a $1.00 value so if you use a code on a blu ray you will still be charged $.50 and $1.00 for a game. I’ve done tried it.
