UnknownEven though more people shopped Black Friday sales than ever before last weekend, sales of packaged media such as Blu-rays, DVDs, CDs, and video games were down, according to a new report from the National Retail Foundation.

Overall weekend shoppers grew in numbers to about 155 million, compared to 151 million during last year’s Black Friday rush. They were spending their money on other things besides home media, it seems, because only about 28 percent of them bought a DVD, CD, or video game over Thanksgiving weekend. Last year, about 32 percent of shoppers made packaged media purchases.

Average per-person spending dropped a bit as well from last year, when shoppers spent an average of $299.60. This year, per-shopper spending totaled $289.19.

How did your Black Friday home entertainment spending this year compare to last year, Insiders? What influenced the change?
