imagesThe evidence continues to mount that Netflix, Amazon, and other subscription streaming services are doing harm to the traditional TV business. The latest voice to be added to the fray is from Nielsen, which recently posted a blog about rising concerns in the media that people are losing interest in live television at an increasing rate.

Due to this increase, which is understood to mean that people are replacing traditional TV-watching with online streaming, advertisers are scaling back their spending in the traditional TV arena.

Megan Clarken, EVP of global watch product leadership for Nielsen, said the following:

“Today, consumers have more control than ever before — and media companies are being forced to adapt to the new realities of what people watch, and when they watch it,”

Are you among the cord-cutting ranks who are eschewing traditional television-viewing models?

I haven’t watched “TV” in about a decade. One thing it does is make it so I’m very sensitive to ads so I can’t stand Hulu or Crackle either. But it keeps all the garbage out of my house, and we watch what we want, when we want. I also no longer listen to the radio, instead choosing audiobooks, mp3 files, and podcasts.

I stopped watching TV sometime back. 95% of what is one is total trash.
I have NetFlix online & in the mail. So I can watch what I want & when I want. I also have Warner Bros Archive Instant online. For some great old TV shows and movies.
Why really needs TV and the dumb over price Cable TV bill.
Yes I have Cable for my High speed net… And fine with it… But
    the TV part. No thanks.

I wonder why? Try watching the news & getting more adverts than news. This is why I never watch live TV. I Have a DVR with a 6 hour buffer & can skip right through the adverts. I understand that adverts pay for them to be on the air, but enough is enough. I record any show that I want to watch & view it on my terms.
