Several competitors, such as Starz, Epix, and Amazon Prime already do so, enabling users to view content offline or when their internet connection is poor.

Back in April, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings discussed the possibility in remarks a few months back, and the rumors have only heated up since then. Said Hastings:

“As we expand around the world, where we see an uneven set of [streaming] networks, it’s something we should keep an open mind about,”

Netflix spokesperson Anne Marie Squee threw some cold water on the rumors without shutting the door on the possibility of downloads:

“We’ve said that while we’re focused on delivering a great streaming experience, we’re always open to new ways to please our members,”

Do you think jumping into the download space, especially with its original content, would be a good move for Netflix?
