Google+_IconNetflix is already shaking things up when it comes to its five star rating system. The online streaming giant is also testing a button that allows users to skip the opening credits on some TV shows.

The “skip intro” button is appears when users hover over the opening titles for several popular Netflix shows, including House of Cards, Iron Fist, Mad Men and The Office. The test is apparently confined to just web viewing for now, and is not working on smart TV, set top box, or gaming console apps.

A Netflix spokeswoman acknowledged the “skip intro” button test without committing to its long term viability:

“We perform hundreds of tests every year to help make the Netflix member experience better,”

Have you seen this button on Netflix yet, Insiders? Do you think it’s a good idea?

    I LOVE this idea!!!!!
Just wish it would work for Smart TV’s as that is my usual for watching Netflix. We do a lot of binge watching and this takes time out of our actual watching time. I don’t want to take away from the credit of who is in the movie, director, etc but……I would have to say 99% of people just want to get on with it and watch the show. They can always just watch the credits or google it if they need to more information.
    Thanks for the great question!

I support this for TV shows since they’re generally the same for each episode. Game of Thrones, Twilight Zone and the X-Files would be the only ones I would watch.
